The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I’m not sure replacing a full blown international in the prime of his career is something FSG would do. He had a poor season last year but still played in the WC final. Jumping ship to someone else just because most of the team were poor is self defeating.
.
A will assess everyone over the first few months and build a plan for next season. Long before he changes the entire team he needs to implement his style and game plans. Who knows, Gapko may turn out a superstar this season. Alexi may become better than the player we bought.
.
Time will tell but I don’t agree on for selling for the sake of it.

Romano said that Alexis’ representatives offered City the chance to at least consider a move (I guess if Enzo doesn’t go through), not that he necessarily expects for it to happen.

But it would be very hard now to imagine us selling Mac, we’d be way too short in midfield with very limited time to react.

Possibly when we needed that big midfield injection ahead of the summer of 2023.

Bellingham, Nunes, Kone… they were all linked at the time I think.

I think Barcola will be it for the summer. Minteh and Sarr know we want them so I could see either of those being resurrected in January. No midfielder until next summer.

Khepren Thuram as well. I think him and Kone must have been linked the same summer, because I remember being quite invested in Liverpool buying both of them.

I think we’ll go for Rayan next year assuming there’s no massive drop off from him this season (and/or significant injury).

Any addition to the right this window will purely be a stop gap/squad depth.

I’d really like us to sign a more robust, defensively minded RB. Someone like Kayode.

I’d also like a CM but we’ll probably hold off on that given the state of the market at the moment, assuming nobody else leaves.

Once i read Romano said you knew it was utter bollocks from the Charlatan.

We will have to write off this season if we don’t buy a midfielder this transfer window.

I think we can get top 4 but yes, unlikely to go beyond that with this squad.

For me, if we get Camara in, for example, I think that would potentially make a big difference. Even with him though, I don´t think we can get 1st or 2nd.

Yes I was disappointed with us missing on Sangare again as we should have got him last season.

Yes I’m a deadly Jonah!

HSV do sign maybe Zakaria El Ouahdi (Genk) and Francisco Moura (Porto) – and Fabio Vieira (Arsenal)

Top 4 was probably on even w/o Bracola coming in and my feeling is no matter who we bring in, top 4 will be about it. I think now it is a matter of continuity with the current group (+ Barcola now) into next season that will the realisation of the potential of this squad. Of course there will be a few tweaks (easing out VVD as the biggest piece) but we now need a bit of continuity with the group to see us get to the next stage.
