The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Chelsea has apparently reached an agreement to buy Lamine Camara for just 45m euros.

I don’t see why Liverpool aren’t interested at that low price unless he has clearly expressed he will only go to Stamford Bridge.

I would love Liverpool to get aggressive and hijack this deal. We know the asking price now, so why not see if we can swoop in?

Judging by his stats last season Leweling is RAPID (35 kph) and produced some scoring chances on top of his own goals.

I’m reading that he did play mainly on the right wing but he can switch to any position in the front 3 due to his two footed nature.

If the price is right, Jamie might be the hidden jewel in the marketplace. Certainly sounds intriguing from a tactical perspective.

seems like last season was his break through season with pretty good numbers but he is probably one of the many that is available for a reasonable fee because he could either just need a bigger stage to shine now or could just be a flash in a pan. At this point, I am just waiting for one more day and see how many transfers exactly we are going to announce. Imagine none.

I doubt it will be none - they will have to announce Bajetic, Harvey and potentially Gakpo leaving

If that pans out,and you may well be right,it may be a tough season, due,at least,in part, to being thin in some areas.
Of course, plenty to talk about mainly who it is down to!

Could be 2 m 50 cm by the time he joins - almost as tall as Leoni.

Are we putting together a football or basketball team?

Sign me up for quality or talented goalkeepers. It’s an isolated market on it’s own.

We don’t need hundreds, but we can either get good players for the future of quality profit by using the loan market.

Looks like there are a number good up and coming goalkeepers in Belgium. Maybe also a product of having a quality role model like Courtois, who’s been (and still is) the world’s best in my opinion in the last few years.

Let’s see what’s best for Mama, is it good for him to have two successive seasons being a backup, although he did get 20 games last season which should satisfy him, especially if he’s aware that there are steps to be made.

With Alisson’s age, injuries here and there and contract situation, we do need a serious backup. So I think Mama stays and we’ll see what happens ahead of the summer of 2027.

I could see us signing Lucca Brughmans now or having a deal agreed to go into effect later if we feel he is a bright enough prospect. I can’t see us selling Mama this season though. Not with Alisson’s injury problems and our need for a good enough quality backup. Next summer with Alisson probably leaving on a free, is when we will need to make decisions on Mama and if he is good enough to be first choice.

I’d rather spend the money on a right back or a midfielder but what do I know :person_shrugging:

I hear you but looking at how great out goalkeeping department had been until Alisson arrived (and the drop-off in quality when he’s not available), this is one signing the club absolutely must get right. I don’t know anything about this lad except what I read in the meantime (high potential, really tall but mobile, allegedly good with the ball at his feet, also went through quality coaching at his club), so I hope we’ll get it done.

As for the right back… And a defensive midfielder… And a right winger… And perhaps another centre back for the long term… That’s a different topic.

I find it embarrassing watching out fans meltdown over ever little thing that happens. Moaning about signing players. Moaning about not signing players. It’s exhausting.

Tavolieri is usually very reliable for Belgian transfers.

Still think we could do with a holding mid, mind

€35m for an 18 year old with four senior appearances to his name.

I was thinking this might be a €10m deal with a few add ons but €35m is just insane. That’d put him in the top ten most expensive keepers of all time. More than Arsenal paid for Raya just a couple years ago.

And this whilst we have holes all over the squad. Having loaned a defender to hopefully cover centre back and right back. Whilst we have no proper right winger. Whilst we have a glaring imbalance in midfield. If we were purring and securing him for our long term future I could kind of get it but even if we’re seeing an out on Mamadashvilli as we don’t think he’s up to it we’re replacing him with a teenager with four senior appearances to his name for a whopping fee.

It’s just all so poor.

Come on, even a level headed poster such as yourself has to be questioning this surely.

The guys on the Anfield Index transfer show last night were saying they’d spoken with Mama’s agent - even saying they didn’t mind burning that source if he’s going - and the player’s camp are pretty furious as they were expecting Ali to have moved on by now and Mama to be our no1. So it’s not inconceivable they’re driving a move away.

As for the Belgian kid, maybe someone we’ve had our eye on but we’ve been a bit blindsided by Mama’s camp suddenly forcing a move, and so we’ve pulled the trigger now rather than continue to wait. If it happens, I would expect us to tie Ali down to at least another season beyond this, maybe two, while he develops.
