The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Sounds like we’ve been scared off Bouaddi - reports Lille are looking for either 100m euros for an immediate sale, or 80m plus he stays with them for a year. Madness.

That’s a shame, does look a good prospect but seems like any young player that had a promising season and made it into a world cup squad is going to set you back around 100m this summer.

Saw his name mentioned in places yesterday, but the LFC transfers pod I watch, same one that said we’re turning away from Bouaddi over price, said they’ve been told we’re paying serious attention to him now - Chema Andres.

Found a six-month old scouting report for him, which seems to back up what the pod described him as - Baby Fabinho - and could be the physical, intelligent DM we’re looking for:

Maybe one to keep an eye on. Apparently he came up through the same Madrid Castilla side as Munoz, so they probably know each other well, for whatever that’s worth.

Chelsea, PSG and Man City really have fucked the transfer market. I wonder what they all have in common. Twats.

I expected they would demand unrealistic money for Barcola given the amount they sold Ramos for. I’d give them a swerve, he’s good but he’s nowhere near that good.

Market has gone nuts, the price they are wanting for players that aren’t near being World class is ridiculous

I know we’ve done this to death but at this rate we’ll have to have a go at what @Liverdinner was talking about, delve into the same markets as Brighton, Sunderland, Newcastle etc because they’re gonna start asking for £100M+ for Baleba for example.
I know it was worth paying the extra amount for the near-finished article but that increase in level is no longer worth these frankly ludicrous sums!

I still remember we were lamenting spending £35M on Carroll!!

Would be quite content to see Arsenal buy Scott for presumably quite a lot of money.

I don’t think he’d add anything they really need.

They have a pretty stacked squad, whose spot would he take?

I heard some discussion that Odegaard’s place could be under consideration.

Looks like finding value is more important than ever.

I doubt we will find much of that buying players from the Premier League unfortunately.

I still think there is a fair bit to be had on the continent but you’re looking 50 million probably for somebody like Abde at Betis.

Market is mad

Nobody’s in my opinion but maybe they’d play him next to Rice to have somebody who carries the ball forward. I don’t think it’s what they need though

We should have charged way more for Diaz, he’s better than Barcola.

From what I’ve seen that seems a very good description of him.

Nothing fancy and plays it simple but he’s almost always in position in front of the back four. Would suit a more expensive player next to him like Wharton I think

I guess he is older though.

Might have to wait until later in the window to get value as clubs are worried about having players stay that want to leave

Tough job for our transfers team, I have to say. Although I don’t know the budget

Problem is, everyone is going to think that as well.

Does also make you wonder why we didn’t make moves while the season was ongoing but then if we planned to change manager I couldn’t understand why not.

Genuinely looks a tough market. Not entirely sure Muñoz was a shrewd buy but the fee was a pretty good one.

At that price, with his upside (on paper) and his speed which is supposed to be elite, a no-brainer.
Because if it doesn’t work out no big deal, we can absorb that.

We can’t absorb a £100M+ failure.

Yeah as a player to have he’s fine. It’s just that he takes up a place in the squad and I can’t see us buying both a very good right winger and a very good left winger now, which I think we still need.

He’s quick and direct but I’m not too sure about the more subtle side of his game, such as passing and creating for others or dribbling when games are a bit slower. Quite a kick and rush player.

Let’s see. He’s young and has the right manager to guide him. Maybe he can go up a level or two.

@Sweeting @Nikola do we have any youth team prospects we can make use of on the wings?
