The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Nothing to do with us Arsenal and Chelsea had already broken the 9 digit transfers way before.

Haha, I told my friends earlier that I got the impression De Zerbi was a closeted Liverpool fan trying to take the heat off the players Liverpool bought last summer.

I watched quite a lot of Newcastle last season and was about to say ā€œCan he?ā€ Since I thought he was injured most of this year.

However a bit of research later and I now realize he was playing in all of the games, he was just completely anonymous.

yep

I don“t really get it from Spurs.

Fernandes AND Tonali?

Why?

Greedy…or trying to amass so many players, so no-one else can buy…to try and win the league

Maybe but it must be a large portion of their budget and they need to add quality elsewhere.

Not sure those two fit well together but I guess theyd argue it“s midfield sorted for years.

So, he’s been nicknamed the Ivorian Iniesta, but there’s also this:

Dreaming of PSG

When a journalist in CĆ“te d’Ivoire asked OulaĆÆ during the AFCON which club he dreamed of one day representing, the answer was immediate and unusually specific.

ā€œSome people find it strange, but I like Ligue 1. I’m not attracted to the Premier League. PSG is the club where I dream of playing. This new PSG plays really well!ā€ he said it with a smile, the kind of relaxed self-assurance you see in a player who knows exactly where he stands.

There’s a long list ahead of him for that move. I’ve no doubt he’d change his mind about PL if any club made an offer. I still like him.

He“ll end up at Marseille or something.

Rennes.

No rumours.

The way things are going, PSG are going to become to African players what Real Madrid and Barcelona are to South American ones!

For the French speaking parts of Africa at least.

Since childhood I have dreamed about playing for PSG, earning shitloads of money and winning league titles at a canter

Don’t we all. Don’t we all..

Every single african talent I’ve looked up after watching them at this world cup is either already at a European club (mostly PSG) or angling for a move there. RB Leipzig also seem to be quite quick and early to pick up African talent

I mean I get it also from a cultural fit perspective. Huge pan-African diaspora (predominantly native french speakers but there are others) in France, so not surprising.

There are nearly 100 players at this world cup who were born in France. Enough of them were born in Paris for the city to have been able to put out their own team and be competitive. PSG are plastic and have surprisingly little history for the biggest club in the heartbeat of French football. But they have now been relevant enough for long enough that young players today will have known nothing but a world in which top players played for them.
