The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Given his age and where he’s coming from, and the fact he’s a no10, I think the only way I could see this one happening is as a dirt-cheap backup for Wirtz as Iraola wants to use Szobo elsewhere.

Not saying he is, but he could be the Andoni Era’s Andy Robertson

To be fair to Arribas 9 goals in LaLiga in about 2000 minutes is pretty good. I’m not really sure what to make of 25 goals in Segunda, could he a sign of a quality player but might also mean nothing.

He’s left footed and capable of playing as a winger which is rare in the current market and if we do have interest maybe that’s the reason as I don’t see a 10 being a priority - but a goalscoring right winger would be.

Anyway this is basically what people have been screaming out for right? Sign them before they go to the bridge club. He’s also linked with Benfica, Celta Vigo and Ajax. This would he one of those gambles.

from youtube videos that made everyone looks like the next world beater, he looks fast enough, not the most speedy but fast enough to get past the first defender, always seem to be looking to attack and go forward. I cannot imagine him costing anymore than 20mil even in current market? At worst, a squad player but the upside is ‘he is just waiting for the opportunity’ type of player.

Segunda isn’t a particularly high scoring league well it hadn’t felt that way

He much better/faster than Elliot does he look? He’d have to at least be that for us to have serious interest I think.

To me he looks fairly skilful but not quick enough to be a wide player in a top side.

Only going off videos as I don´t watch the Segunda but yeah, not seeing a lot that makes me think he´d be worth it.

Thing is are we considering players as back up, is there a gap that can’t be filled from our youth side, thats how I would look at these signings. Not everyone coming in has to be a starter.

I trust our set up to get this right, they’ve done well on this type of signing in the past, much more than someone who has looked at a couple of youtube clips.

There is a good chance he will stay at Leipzig for one more season. In that case we may be in play for next summer. A lot can happen between now and then.

Liverpool have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for West Ham’s Dutch attacker Crysencio Summerville, 24. (Caught Offside, external)

One of Andoni Iraola’s early tasks as Liverpoolboss will be to hold off interest from Old Trafford and Europe to sign 17-year-old Mexican international midfielder Gilberto Mora, who plays his domestic football for Club Tijuana. (Teamtalk, external)

Really don’t get the second one, does that mean we want to sign him or is Iraola just keen on him not going anywhere else and is a fan of Club Tijuana.

As for the first one :face_with_peeking_eye:

Summerville is good and I think he’d go up a level aroynd better players but I wouldn’t enter a bidding war for him.

I’m not opposed to Summerville, but it would feel like a pretty big comedown from Diomande…

Summerville would add to our homegrown contingent. Which isn’t a reason to go for him by itself but is a bonus if we are actually going for him.

How is Summerville homegrown? Just curious as I’ve seen this mentioned elsewhere, but as far as I can see he was born in Holland to non-English parents, came up through the Feyenoord academy and his first contact with a British club was when he signed for Leeds aged 20.

Unless I’m missing something here?

Honestly, I’m repeating what I’ve seen said elsewhere! Looking into it though, I think your off on the age he joined Leeds. He was 18.

Ah, I wonder if that’s it, cheers!

It means we’re trying to sign him and are leading the race for his signature but other clubs are starting to strengthen their interest

I think he’s supposed to join Man United anyway. I think he’s a very decent player, certainly one this squad could use at the moment, but I assume we’re talking about another massive price for a player who’s been blowing hot and cold for years and has only found his feet in PL last season.

I’m not too enthused by Summerville. From what little (and it is very little) i’ve seen of him. Not sure he creates or scores enough ( i havent looked at his stats so i could br wrong on that).

I think he’s the very definition of “he’s fine”. For me it would be on a similar level to the time we signed Pennant. Not awful, just… not great.
