The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I suspect there’s too much smoke around Barcola for him to not be high, if not at the top, on our list, and I wonder if it will take PSG signing Diomande first for that to be able to happen. The major wrinkle there is Ivory Coast are already out of the WC and as far as we can tell they’ve made no offers for him yet still.

That still does beg the question of whether we’d play him at RW despite him playing the majority of his time at LW, or if the plan would be to use him on the left and make Rio & Munoz our preferred options for RW - Gakpo then being cover at both LW and CF unless sold.

I think it is way too early to be jumping to such conclusions.

The Diomande situation has not yet come to a conclusion.

Other high profile targets are probably being courted but are also of interest to other big clubs (Barcola for example has been regularly mentioned as being a target for ourselves and Arsenal).

If Real Madrid are committed to signing a winger this window then that will affect the market and who would be available to us, and we have to see how that plays out.

Transfer windows are always a mix of being advantage to first movers and having to wait until the bigger moves begin to happen to see who becomes available later on. Players like Minteh and Summerville are probably still going to be a round for a while.

PSG are supposedly after Akliouche as well. It might need progress for only one of the two for us to be able to progress with Barcola. If we are unlucky it will take both.

After seeing the other players we’ve been linked too by the media (so likely made up) since Diomande, I’ve warmed back up to Barcola as a possibility, even with the amount PSG want.

I don’t think Barcola is the real thing. It’s always made with that syrup mixture. Pass.

To be fair, he’s miles better than his cousin, Pandacola

Working on a pre-contract agreement … :woman_shrugging:

Not sure if the shrug means you’re not sure what that means, but given he’s only 17 it would likely be us agreeing a contract with him for when he turns 18, as we couldn’t sign him until then being a foreign player.

(I think, stand to be corrected by someone who knows more about it than me lol)

He looked very comfortable in the World Cup. Impressive for a youngster to do that. Sign him up!

I agree with it as part of the strategy to sign emerging talent. We should be in this market, and we are, which is boxing clever given the prices for players a little bit older. We obviously have immediate needs too, so as a club we shop at all levels of the market.

If we do sign Mora, it will be interesting to see what we do with him initially. Yes, come and train and join the preseason. But I don’t see him featuring yet, so he will need to play so as to not disrupt his development. Let’s see what happens.

Another player that looked v comfortable at only 18 was the Aussie CB Herrington. Not sure he’s done enough to be worth signing yet though…

I had been very comfortable too. Just putting this out there to the scouts.

All I am hearing is crickets. Hopefully we’ll have some of those out of nowhere signings…my favorite kind. These are my favorite kind since you can’t have a Diomande like disappointment!

What do hermits usually hear?

This Is Anfield repeated reports we were scouting him from before the Corruption Cup. From the Athletic originally supposedly but it was behind a paywall so I didn’t read it.

Perhaps name-recognition is helping us get this Mexican wonderkid. After all, Liverpool is big in Mexico.
