The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Not sure why we would sign a left back…At the level he is at.

He can play Right back as well and centre back so there is that, I had my concerns about him but he was England’s brightest player last night (Not saying much). Can’t see it myself.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we end up doing a couple of Munoz type deals that stay reletively under the radar till they happen.

Wouldn’t much surprise me if Iraola will feed into what he feels we need after the next week or so.

That’s what I thought too, but then I started to wonder if this whole thing only came up because he played really well yesterday—and if it’s all just fake news, like so often happens.

Probably just fake news but a homegrown option that can cover both left and right back seems ideal.

Apparently been linked to Inter…

A nice bonus, hijacking a player from Inter would be even more fun then taking one from Newcastle.

I’m starting to get a bit of a bad feeling. I know I shouldn’t let myself get dragged down and need to stay positive, but right now there are just too many negative voices saying, “We’ve got Munoz—that’s it.” Just like back then with Chiesa. I could really use something to cheer me up.

To try and give a more positive outlook Livvy. Munoz came out of nowhere suddenly, so we are still very capable of keeping transfers on the quiet until they are nearly complete and Iraola did talk about more signings.

Might be less then we might like, as I could see us sticking with the same midfield as last season but still expect more then just Munoz.

I don’t think Iraloa would be as blunt about it to the press if things weren’t in motion. Not sure if it was during the press conference or later, but I’m sure he said they’re working to get things done.

I don’t think that is a reliable source, but I was quite impressed with Spense for England.

Who has said that…? even Iraola said we are looking to make signings and that we need to.

Yes, he said we’re working on it—but that’s what they all say, really. You can’t really rely on that; it just reflects what he’d like to happen and what he’s being told. And the official club journalists just pass on what they’re told, so they’re completely unreliable too—we saw that very clearly with the Slot situation. Sometimes we get lucky and a random foreign source pops up. Right now, there’s a Hungarian source claiming Szobo has agreed to a new deal BTW

Would be great it Szoboszlai has signed a new deal. I don’t like Jones being down to one year and Szoboszlai and Mac Allister being down to two years left. Need some of those contracts extended badly.

But you stated we are being told we have Munoz and that’s it… I was asking who had said that?

No one official, if that’s what you mean—just a huge number of frustrated comments and posts because nothing is happening. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Ah fair enough, I just wondered, it is entirely possible like but I would expect 2 signings probably.

“nothing visible is happening”

There are bound to be discussions ongoing that we are not party to, and the club doesn’t want made public yet.

We won’t be the only team interested in Diomande or Barcola for example. What happens there will no doubt influence whether or not we move for someone like Minteh for example, as does whether anything happens with Cody.

The same with players already here. It’s unlikely we start moving some of the players on until we have better certainty about incoming players (or vice versa regarding the Curtis situation).

Let’s see what comes from the Hungarian source… we’ll have to wait and see. In the past, it was right very often.

I’m also inclined to believe foreign sources (i.e. the ones from player’s country) than those from England, hence my question to @norwegian_wood about Schjelderup and Norwegian press. I didn’t expect the recruitment to be this slow, though, but maybe club’s primary targets were indeed playing at World Cup and the club were waiting on their decisions (Barcola?).

Also, Bocsak is a good one, really knows his football (massive Liverpool and Hungary fan, too). He wouldn’t be mentioning something like this for clicks and follows. Let’s hope it’s true and that Szoboszlai extends, I really don’t want to see these key players running down their contracts anymore.

Edit: @Livvy, just seen your last post. This is encouraging!
