Go check the data. Both Khvicha and Doué’s top speeds are only slightly higher than Wirtz’s — who you said can’t play on the wing — and way slower than top-speed wingers like Diomande. They have decent pace, but they don’t rely on it.
Acceleration is better than top speed but you keep ignoring I said trickery. Kvara is very very tricky and goes past his full half a lot on the edge of the box

AND they have rapid pace on the other side with Dembele plus Barcola. And they don’t have a Wirtz

Watched the obligatory 10 minute highlight video and it’s an instant no for me - he did one of those awful stop start stutter penalty run ups

Akliouche is a good player. I hope there’s something to the rumour.
In a world where Gakpo might move on (if he stays, fine, as he is a good player, but I get the impression there might be suitors and he might be open to being more of a main man elsewhere - Spurs, I’m looking at you, with your cheque book!) we could easily add Akliouche and another, who could be Barcola, or Minteh, or other.
The point being, with the group of four wingers we would have all permutations covered, stylistically, for however Iraola wanted to approach any game we might play. Bring it on. I’m looking forward to seeing how he shapes it.

Raw pace is less importnt than directness. I like players who drive with the ball or can play forward passes in advanced areas. Pace obviously helps but you also have a lot of fast players who don’t really know how to use it.

I know I keep harping on…but are we ever going to sign someone who can play on the first day of the season… buying these young uns is ok…but we don’t see them or play them for 2 to 3 year’s…
Again we’re getting left in the transfer market…

I hear you! We have to manage both our future and immediate needs.
I’m sure we will do more business, but based on the business we have done so far, I suspect Jacquet will play from the get go, while Munoz will be a rotational player who should see plenty of action.
We can do Akliouche and Minteh for about what we can get Barcola for. Why not both?

I like this shout, and it covers all bases in the attacking style we might choose to deploy in a given game.

Yeah decent example. I’m not buying the idea they see him as a winger. I think Iraola will eventually have him at RB.

Yeah, Frimpong is a head scratcher for me. I see him as neither an ideal RB or RW. I guess he can play both positions but isn’t a great fit for either. Still don’t understand why we brought him in.

Don’t you think that Iraola, as a former right-back, is capable of helping Frimpong become a better right-back? I think we should just wait and give it some time.

Oh, I’ll absolutely give it time. Iraola didn’t buy him…he inherited him. It just became clear to me last season that he didn’t quite fit. Perhaps that changes under Iraola. We shall see.
I think Frimpong is a good right-back option against teams you expect to sit back and defend against us. One of his main defensive strengths is his ability to recover quickly and help break up counterattacks. So when we’re playing a team that’s planning to sit deep and hit us on the counter (which is most teams), he’s useful both for his attacking ability and his recovery pace.
I wouldn’t want him at right-back against the top eight teams in the league, but I’d feel good with him there for at least half of our league games. Still need another right back as it sounds like Bradley is out for a while.

Akliouche is a fine player. He’s not exactly what I had in mind in terms of a pacey, aggressive winger. But he’s also someone who can play across the line, offer us adequate cover for Isak (until Hugo is back), and he’s in his physical prime.
On the flip side, I’m not sure how much potential there is for development. He’s 24, which isn’t old or anything obviously, but players at that age are already touching their ceiling.
Though if he was 21 or 22, we couldn’t get him for 40M - he’d be commanding twice that much.
