The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Yep every player gets it wrong.

Yet the video I mentioned shows all his ball progressions and passes and there are very little from the by line mostly infield but you know better!

Now that’s a rumour!

What the lad does at Monaco may or may not be what he’s asked to do here should he join us.

The idea that you bring in a player to do and play exactly as he has done elsewhere is quite a narrow lens through which to view them. Traits, physical attributes, skill level, tactical understanding, work rate, adaptability, potential to develop are all things they’ll be assessing.

Clearly we aren’t getting a plug and play replacement for Salah as one doesn’t really exist. Judging whoever might come in by how Salah has played in the last 9 years is pointless. We also don’t really know how the manager is going to set us up. You expect he’ll bring some of the same principles and philosophy but you’d also expect some adaptation to the squad he has.

Ultimately we need more good players and we probably want at least someone with a left foot to give us that balance. This lad could well be one the club has identified to fit the bill. He certainly looks a player and is in that age and experience bracket we’ve previously liked to shop in. How we’d end up using him would remain to be seen.

I know fans like this idea of players being molded by coaches into whatever .

But in the real world, those certain traits, physical attributes (and limits) etc. dictate and limit what players are able to do and what they instinctively do, even with the best coach in the world. They dictate the certain roles you can employ them in and what choices they will make. You could never make Trent play like Frimpong, for example.

That was the point being made. He likely wouldn´t play at all like Salah did for us or the type of flying winger people seem to be expecting as it wouldn´t suit his traits nor what he likes to do. No amount of asking would get him to either.

The question was then does this suit our setup with Wirtz already playing in areas this kid likes to occupy. Sure we can ask him to stay wide, and totally nulify what he is good at.

Couldn’t agree more.
Monaco have used him in ways that shows a multi-faceted player.
Sometimes wide and high.
Many times cutting in to the center and Vanderson or Teze going wide.
But he arrives in the box with dynamism.
IMO he profiles more like Yamal than Wirtz

PSG could walk away from Yan Diomande deal – report

Per the report, Leipzig have made it clear that they will accept a compromise fee of €120m (£102.5m, $136.5m) for Diomande – a fee described as their minimum price to sanction his sale.

However, it’s claimed that PSG coach Enrique does not feel the teenager is worth such an excessive amount and has told the club’s transfer advisor Luis Campos that he would be against his side paying such a fee for a player he cannot guarantee regular minutes to, given the club’s embarrassment of riches in attack.

I hope nobody signs him. Would serve him and his greedy agents right.

So Barcola to stay at PSG?

I don’t think Real Madrid enters the bidding unless they know they have an inside track to his signature.

I don’t think we should have any transfer dealings with PSG or RM. They’re both bad actors and should be avoided.

Interesting. It also mentions us. Might be a start of a bidding war, not necessarily and I hope not, involving us.

If he is going to RM it must be in 2 years on a free.

Is he now on a free transfer whilst also a club asking a 100 million for him.
This transfer world is strange .
