My tuppence worth on Quansah is we cross that bridge when we come to it.
By next summer Virg will probably on the way out and we will know a heck of a lot more about Jacquet and Leoni, plus the younger ones Ndukwe and Ndiaye.
At the least Quansah will be good enough to come back and join a group of four centre backs, but whether or not he would be starter material for us in the 2027-28 season ahead of the others depends on how they all grow in the next year.
Maybe Leoni and Jacquet will look amazing by the end of this season? Maybe Ndiaye and Ndukwe grow leaps and bounds too, so the case for Quansah is lessened. Conversely, maybe Quansah kicks on even further with regular high level football, and it would be foolish not to bring him back home at a fair price.
While all that plays out, the immediate need is to strengthen now.
Yep. Iām weary of Arsenal. They could potentially gazump us for Barcola. Hopefully that deal is progressing nicely and Barcola only has eyes for us. But until it is signed and sealed, I donāt like Arsenal lurking.
I donāt think, with Trey, it has had anything to do with hs footballing ability and intelligence but more to do with his physical presnce and maturity.
Iād see Tomori as a signing to fix a very real need here and now. For me, we donāt have the luxury of thinking too far ahead on this, I think we need someone to come in right now and be a slightly better version of Ragnar Klavan. Be available, and good enough to step in when needed.
I think Jacquet and Leoni would be the ones potentially standing in the way of Quansah coming back, if they both show enough this season to suggest both could be potential starters. Then it might be a situation where the club canāt say to him heās coming back as a starter. And if things are going well for him at Leverkusen and he keeps getting picked for England, maybe heāll choose to stay put.
Thatās a whole bunch of ifs, and a year is such a long time in football, so much can happen. Basically a roundabout way of saying I agree with @RedOverTheWater.

If the plan is Barcola plus a first team-ready CB, I suppose that will be fine. But we would still be thin at RB and DM. Hopefully Iraola can pull things together because we are running out of transfer window time to make moves.
