The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Those two are minimum for sure, probably only if the CB can do some RB too or we perhaps need one there too.

Then there’s the Jones and Gakpo situations. If we’ve put our foot down and both are staying then fine. If either leave they need replacing.

Finally, there’s the usual question marks around the likes of Endo and Chiesa. Are we stuck with them? Will we see late moves that tempt us/them? What happens if they move on, do we need replacements?

Just seems a lot of uncertainty for three weeks out from kick off. And we’ve yet to really see any actual movement on the CB and winger that are the bare minimum.

Well I agree on CB.

Barcola seems to be a concrete move.

True. But if the CB and anything else depends on the deal we can strike for Barcola then we need to get moving.

Been over a month since we moved on from Diomande and we’re still in a place where we’re waiting on PSG making moves before we can make any progress on the business we need to do.

We don’t really know to be fair.

I guess we will see, we shouldn’t be depleting the squad any further to be honest.

Liverpool won’t let Gakpo leave unless we have Barcola signed. Barcola feels like the big domino signing for us.

I would be surprised if we had many buys. The Manager will need more than a couple of games to assess a brand new club. Winter may be a more likely comparison of where he want the club to go.

He needs a full season mate. I’d shut up shop now, let Richard go on his annual cruise and reconvene next summer.

Deffo need a RB now.

Get the cheque book out, John.

We’ve needed a right back since Bradley’s injury.
RB
CB
RW

Same as in June.

I don’t think we have any interest in selling him.

We need 2 CB’s. Gomez is finished, Leoni wont be back for a while. VVD is pushing 40 and hasn’t had a rest since 1998. Jacquet is an unknown quantity.

On top of that we need a RB, at least 1 experienced CM and another wide man. We also need Ekiteke to come back sooner rather than later.

I was saying months ago we needed at least 10 new players in the summer. So far we’ve signed a lamp and coffee table.

We don’t need 10 new players.

We need a CB to make 4 with Leoni and Jacquet.

We need a RB as we only have Ramsey.

At this point we don’t have any space for more CM if you include Nyoni.

We need a winger and I don’t think if they can be versatile. that’s fine for Iraola has there has been a fair bit of talk about switching from the players and manager

Pre season and fitness blah blah, but I don´t know how you can watch that game and think we are all great in midfield.

Even with Mac to come back. Numbers does not equal quality.

Hopefully we see some movement in the next 1-2 weeks.

Barcola the obvious big signing, but then beyond that there is more business to do, in and out.

Barcola to sign.
Jones and Chiesa to go to Italy.
Gakpo to Spurs.
Minteh or Fernandez-Pardo to be signed.
Chalobah to be signed, covering cb and rb.
A smattering of others to be sold or loaned.

Very late in the window, depending on what happens to Macca, we might sign Wharton.

Don’t think Gakpo goes to be honest.

You might be right! I’m just thinking that if there’s decent money on the table, say 70M+, we might choose to sell to balance the wingers a bit better. Gakpo might fancy it too, if he sees himself dropping down the pecking order as Barcola arrives.

Just seems to be that we keep hearing we have no interest in selling.

I just don’t expect he will go.

Anyhow Barcola and CB is the moves first

I´m not Gakpo´s biggest fan but I also would be surprised if he´s sold, what with us not having Hugo for a while and also the fact that there aren´t many outstanding candidates on the market to come in, and especially few that have had more than one good season.

I really like the look of Abde at Betis but he´s only really had one good season.
