Agree with this a we could have definitely used him this season and he’s gone to a disaster of a club. He’d have definitely gotten playing time that he wanted.

That would mean agreeing to an important contract of a few years and you’d probably get people moaning we did it. Not that we know what’s best!
It was probably time to move on from both perspectives, but yeah, I certainly don’t feel secure with our LB situation.

I don´t mind us letting Robbo go and relying on Kerkez, Tsimi and a youngster for now.
We´re not a left back away from winning things. Although I´d argue nobody ever is.

You can surely win something with a “Djimi Traore” (or two) in the team.
Not that Kerkez is exactly that level, but he has some proving to do.
But long term it shouldn’t be the plan and we’ll see if he’s capable to be a starter not only to win something, but continue winning.
And of course, we had priorities and we can’t solve all of our needs in one transfer market.
I’m not convinced having Iraola will help Kerkez that much. This is Liverpool, a whole different perspective and level.
I still cannot believe he went there. I really thought he would go abroad or back to Celtic.

The club and Andy were happy with the situation for Andy to leave. He didn’t play much under Slot anyway.
As for the left back situation I think at the moment we have bigger worries though with hard work and luck these might be sorted with who we have and perhaps one more in coming player (thinking of central midfield btw).
Although some would argue Moreno stopped us winning things! Although not just him
But yeah, when we can, we should improve on Kerkez if he doesn´t improve significantly. Right now though, given our seemingly limited finances and massive issues in midfield, I think cash should be spent there and he´s passable. He does switch off but he´s reasonably solid 1v1.
I dont think having Iraola specifically will help him but a smart guy like Iraola should at least be able to figure out how to get him to play within his limitations and keep things tight. Just run up and down the line, pass it to the midfield or overlap, etc. The concerning thing is he has the best CB we´ve ever had next to him and once Van Dijk goes, is going to be even more erratic?
Yeah, nah… at the time Moreno was here (the whole duration of it), we had more than just his spot to improve on.
The whole combination of Kerkez and Tsimikas (and our full backs in general) so far looks a bit weak. We’ll see, sometimes the club can surprise us with a creative solution.
I expected us to sign a hybrid left footed defender in the last couple of windows, maybe we will do it at some point. If not, we might sign a new project, someone with a clearer ceiling and better stylistical fit than Kerkez.
Yeah it´s a bit weak but I think for now we just have to suck up and bear it. Maybe we will have cash in the next windows but we likely still want a top RW and midfield just has to be fixed.
I thought the Italian that Chelsea signed would have been good as he can play both flanks.

From the players you can’t immediately name off the top of your head, Finn was the first one who caught my eye. He’s an exceptional defender. He comes across as very composed, is in great physical shape and can play football.

That Smit kid looks really interesting. Cheese Smith my Dutch friends call him as it sounds a bit like it apparently.
From what I have seen he is very ´progressive´ in centre midfield with his passing (or running with the ball), good technique and good speed. I saw they tend to try him in the 10 and CM though so whether he is better in either option I´m not sure.
