The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 6)

Isn’t Florian always wrong when it comes to us?

I think on this occasion there is little there that hasn’t already been reported.

Certainly, gut feeling alone would say his tweet is likely to be correct - we don’t know how big the shortlist is but it would be surprising if Camara and Scott are not on it. Of course, that doesn’t mean that they will be the signings we prioritise from within that list.

I like the looks of Camara, and he will be less expensive. That said, we may need some homegrown players, and Scott has worked with Iraola at Bournemouth. Let’s see what happens.

Wirtz isn’t…

Ok, it’s not great…!

I’m sure this will be taken the wrong way but Dom isn’t the right player for us in a midfield 3. RB is his best ā€˜starting’ position in this team wanting to win the PL and CL. He’s the kind of player, like Bruno at ManU, that looks good in flashes, scores some wonder goals and appears all action but doesn’t seem to have the tactical discipline to control midfield in a team at the top. His movement is reactive and his passing (like his shooting) is erratic. Macca was poor last season which masked his performances somewhat but if you were replacing Liverpool midfielders Dom is a strong candidate and the fee could help bring in a player more suited.

Im not sure it comes to replacing dominik just get.

It’s probably good for us to have two #10s. Horses for courses.

Dominik offers certain value in setpieces as well. Just seems certain both Wirtz and dominik cant play together unless we shoehorn dominik in arB.

I’m far from the stance that Szobo should be sold.

I didn’t think he was that good when he initially joined and I certainly don’t think he’s that bad now, after certain amount of time, when most if not all fans get to fully know him as a player.

We’ll see how things evolve, but I’m almost certain that Iraola holds Szobo in the ā€œnot for saleā€ category. Yes, I know, there could be an offer or price for which we might do it, but I think we very much count on him for the future.

I’m not sure we want to sell him after just locking him down to a new deal, but I do know he should not be simply walking back into a team that has generally looked a lot more solid without him in it.

If anything that’s the one thing Iraola needs sorting.

I like Dom, but I don’t see him disciplined enough in a double pivot.

He’s fixed the defence (largely) , he’s fixed the attack. The midfield remains something that needs to be sorted.

I think that’s why we’re looking at Gilberto Mora. Don’t think Dom can play the 10 effectively.

I think it’s a balance/profile issue. Trey helps with that, but he’s still so young. Camara (or similar) would really help with the balance in midfield. He’s far from a perfect player, but he gives us something we don’t have. I’m not sure Scott offers something we don’t have. I can see him possibly replacing one of Macca, Dom, or Grav if they are sold, but not in addition to that trio.

Against some sides , dom can do that that.

One more pertinent thing is that h ruins whether Wirtz is trying to do… Wirtz drops back to get the space and then dom bombs foreward.

Can we move this discussion elsewhere we have threads on our attack, midfield and defence.

I don’t believe Wirtz is going anywhere after his last few performances. And TIA can frame it all they want.

He bombs forward and clatters into Wirtz.

I would have Dom ahead of Wirtz everyday of the week.

In the #10?

In a midfield 3
