I love you to ARD.
I actually thought he played really well yesterday. Between him and Fabinho we dominated every aspect of the game.
I still want to see him at the base of midfield in a pair but only when the time is right.
Iām not saying the quality wasnāt there, I just felt it lacked direction and speed.
His defensive efforts have been enormous and for some time now.
I donāt think Thiago knew about how referees/match officials treat us. All these months he is just getting used to this new system. I think he will be totally seasoned by the start of next season and will be great for us. He has the talent, experience, and the work rate; once he masters the system he will be rocking once again.
I think heāll get even better at LCM next season, when his best foot (and heās arguably our most technical player, vision is outstanding and can pick out passes like no one else) is open more ātowardsā the game. Not only that though, but a calm pre-season after Euroās should be helpful as well.
He had learned how to tackle it seemed, less of the bull in a China shop and yet still at them in the tackle, stayed on his feet and yeah was his best performance in the league for us since Chelsea.
I saw thatā¦ 10 ball recovers. Insane.
I think one of the more tired ideas is that heās luxury player. He came up in Pepās high pressing side in which superstars were moved on for not having the right work ethic. Pep then took him to Bayern where it was less evident in the way Bayern played, but still a key part of the midfield role. Heās a terrier and always has been.
Yep, and weirdly is really good in the air! He is growing to get the pace of the league, just needs to cut out the leg cutting from behind tackles which are a guaranteed yellow for us.
Did you hear them pair of manc pricks in the studio saying he gets away with his bad tackles because people think he donāt know how to tackle but said he knows well what he is doing.
I guess they also say that Fernandes doesnāt know how to run, because he keeps falling over?
He was very good with his tackling on Saturday, still committed but not stupid, stayed on his feet more.
For me with the amount of duels/ball recoveries he does I would just keep encouraging him to challenge and expect that he gets yellow cards, in todayās none contact game they are going to come.
He made a great challenge against Arsenal, won the ball and caught the players toe as he planted his foot, Arsenal player looked like he was shot and got a freekick same as the freekick against Phillips, when Laca got a cut on his eye the contact was completely accidental, in fact Nat tried to lift his elbow out of the way but a freekick was still given.
I wish the referees would use a bit of nous and understanding rather than penalising all contact
I hope he fucks up Kroos and Modric on Wednesday.
Happy Birthday big man
Still never understand why he didnāt start for us last Tuesday but he has grown in recent weeks and his fouls are not as crazy as they were come the first few weeks, he looked like he hadnāt tackled a guy but now they are far more controlled and in doing so isnāt ending up with a booking so early.
I think Klopp, like with Milly, is trying to manage his minutes, I feel Fab, Milly and Thiago are atm our best midfield 3 taking into account our injury issues. With them there is a good mix and all 3 are tenacious in different ways as they are all effective on the ball again in the own individual way.
Still his best games have been in Europe though he is starting to get a grip of the PL, I think he will shine next season.
I hope we saw a fantastic example how much he can bring to us when he plays as the LCM. Although today, we played I think for the first time almost like a 4-2-2-2; a cage of 4 players in the middle and Mane and Salah attacking from high wide towards the inside.
We start the game with:
Good performance, but nothing special yet, we need more control and more finishing.
We spontaneously change to:
Best period of the game, Thiago needs literally a few seconds to start chopping Newcastleās lines with his right foot faced towards many passing lanes. Through balls, chips, long balls, switches of play, you name it. Gini goes to RCM as a much more technically limited player, focus on basics, just work hard, pass the ball accurately and thatās it.
Second half, Millie comes in and we flip to:
Please, I mean please. Why does Milner go to LCM in that situation? Can someone explain the logic? We immediately lose control, our right side balance starts leaking more.
