Thiago ALCANTARA: 2021/22

I’m sure some will blame FSG as well, when Thiago was signed at Klopp request against their policy…

I would prefer a fit Thiago for 30 games a season than some of those spoken about in “Who would you buy” and “Unreliable Rumours”. He changes things when we play.
Against Chelsea with Fabinho, Milner and Hendo we lacked any real creativity. In those matches Thiago is the answer. Keita also provides that extra something, and yes he isn’t always available either.

I dont think there are too many players of their quality out there.

We should also remember a lot of the games he missed was because an Everton cunt did his knee.

Which is a major factor. Covid and that prick fucked him up last seaon.
Thank you.

It’s essentially been that, COVID, and now this problem.

Nothing else in it at all, really. Was a constant in the latter half of last season.

That is part of the problem as it leaves us with an enormous hole to fill when he is (too frequently) unavailable. If we were able to pick and choose which 30 or so games in the season he played that would be one thing, but instead its been a case of us adapting to someone so different than anyone else we have, and then after going through that transition all of a sudden having to revert back during his next 2 month absence.

I adore him, but it just hasn’t worked.

decide when we wanted to make those changes it would be one thing. But it’s been a case of adapting to him being here and offering notably different things, and then having to figure out how to revert back as soon as he becomes unavailable.

Probably February then.

That sounds like he may have had surgery then, if he begins rehab tomorrow.

That or they weren’t aware what it was and then the centre was closed before they could put his plan in action.

I reckon he will be out til Feb.

I kind of see what you are saying but with someone of his quality you have to make it work.
He is that good, that not keeping him is nonsensical.
And as @Mascot pointed out a lot of last seasons absence was down to Richarlison.

His presence towards the end of last season wasn’t just coincidence with our best string of results.

Not gonna happen. Considering that in the summer we have to replace Milner (who is out of contract) we are not likely to move on all three of Thiago, Ox and Naby, and particularly not Thiago, who is the most quality player of all three.

Mind you, Klopp likes to give his new players time (months) to settle and adapt to his system, so any possible new arrivals won’t be part of the starting XI for the first half of the season. And I do not think any one of us wold be very fond of a starting XI for the hardest league games that would include Elliott or Jones alongside Fab and Hendo if it is not forced by an injury.

So I do not think a complete overhaul of midfield is likely in the summer. One of those three is likely to be moved on or possibly (max!) two of them if we find a proper replacement (which will be hard enough to find for one of them alongside replacement for Milner), but certainly not for all of them! So I am 100% sure Thiago stays, despite being regarded as injury prone.

Jürgen Klopp was. Thiago, Keïta, and Oxlade-Chamberlain were on the bench when we drew with Chelsea 1-1 at home. Thiago came on after 63 minutes, but to replace Henderson.

I hate it when they don’t put the period since it was calculated.

I mean… Onana? He played like twice since his suspension ended.

Including the day before yesterday.

It’s not always easy to tell how useful those graphics are, but with Kessie being firmly in that bottom left hand corner, it’s safe to assume this one is worth taking notice of.

Next to Bellingham :eyes:

Could be longer than that. After the Everton game they said he would only be out for a couple of weeks and it ended up being months.

Yeah but that was an initial diagnosis this has been serveral weeks now so they will know better when they’d expect him back.
