Yet again I tried to explain how this would work for deals and why the fee being all up front for Werner was worse than the actually price.

Arent all football teams structured in this way in terms of staggered payments ?

The only difference being that Liverpool got Bayern to agree for very little upfront whereas generally it’s atleast half of the price being agreed to in the first year ?

Any add ons will definitely be paid as we’re now winning the fucking lot.

@Kopstar is the man on this, but I think feeS are usually paid over a couple of years in instalments. This would be paid over the duration of the contract, four years.

We are also sad bastards when you think about it.

2 biggest titles in a year, bloody virus that hit everyone, you hope we sign someone, we get a player of the type we didn’t have in a long time (or never in modern age)… yet, we still have to slightly move mountains to get it done and we’re getting him when he’ll soon be in his 30’s.

No wonder we’re excited like animals at the moment, we really had so much crap in front of our eyes.

:joy:

Funny how many people claiming they predicted this outcome… as if there weren’t 5 million other fans who did the same

Anyway… happy fucking days!

Today is a fucking good day.

It varies. The most common practice is the transfer fee is paid in instalments (6 monthly or yearly) within the first 2-3 years of the transfer.

Some transfer fees are paid upfront in one go (this is what is needed to exercise a buyout clause in Spain, for example). However, just because there’s a release clause doesn’t always mean it has to be paid in one lump sum, payments could still be made in instalments depending on the terms of the clause and any subsequent agreement between the clubs.

It’s unusual for the transfer fee to be paid in instalments over the length of a player’s contract so Liverpool have done well to negotiate that here.

Re Thiago:
Ok good, we got him now. In my opinion a clear case of:
" Darling I know we don’t need that second hand, fast, little sport roadster , BUT I f*ckn WANT it ! "

Fabinho is out of form but one of the first names on the team sheet imo.

Fab, Hendo, Thiago start the big games with Gini, Keita, Jones, Milner getting plenty of game time too. Not sure where this leaves Ox

A clear case of sending him on a road trip to Durham for eye sight testing right after the regular medical…

Hendo — Thiago
---------Keita-------

Thiago ----- Keita/ Gini
--------Taki---------

----------Fab--------
—Hendo/ Gini-----Thiago

—Fab-----Thiago----
--------Keita------

So many options and there’s still plenty more, it’ll all depend on what team and context are we playing them. Milly Shaqs Ox and Jones not even considered.

Imagine if we start with Hendo, Gini and Milly in a month

He definitely isn’t coming unless we sell everyone bar Shaqiri and Grujic and Wilson and then the stadium naming rights too. Would still fancy us to finish above everton though.
