Mate, these below alone are your responses to the initial rumour:
āāIf Bayern are allowing approaches, i wonder if we are feigning interest but discussing with the player a potential move next summer on a free? Even then, i cant see how he fits in to our buying model. Our squad now has title and CL winning experience running through out. Next stesps are surely tightening up gaps in squad cover/depth and developing a pool of younger players to succeed our current team as they age?āā
''He misses a lot of games through injury and would have to adjust not only to our way of playing but to our league. Being 29 makes that so much harder and leaves us little time to benefit from it should he successfully do so.
You only need to see the difficulties Klavan, Matip, Keita and Gundogan etc have had who were much younger.āā
āāI havent seen enough to judge his quality, but his age and fitness levels would suggest it doesnāt make sense. We already have 3 players in midfield hitting 29+.āā
āāBuying a 29 year old midfielder adds to the rebuilding job at that price and it doesnāt sound like he will be playing for too many more years.āā
āāBut if he struggles to stay fit in Germany, how will he manage here - Keita was a virtual ever present there as was I think Klavan and Matip? Secondly, he will need to adapt to the pace and physicality of English football.āā
The first few pages of his thread when it first came about and simultaneously in the Unreliable Rumours thread were full of people going, āāNahāā
Levy is just viewed that way because of his portrayal in the media as the āarch negotiatorā. One need only look at the amount they could have gotten for Christian Eriksen for the misplaced praise he gets.
Not sure why. The two deeper CM roles would have Thiago, Henderson and Wijnaldum as options with Fabinho being a defensive specialist and 4th choice at CB. Keita, Ox and Jones would be the options for the more attacking CM role, 1 kid plus 2 injury riddled players. That all doesnāt look overloaded in fact with Ox and Keitaās injury records along with Fabinho maybe having to cover CB where Matip may be an issue we might not have enough. Although we will have Milner as an emergency option which is good as itāll be a much busier more compressed season.
