All great news so far but I’ll wait until I see the lean to be completely content

I am hoping to see JK sitting proudly next to Thiago when he signs

decreases it when the player gives no option but only one team… rules out a bidding war

Over the moon with this, only got onto it 20 minutes ago and it has all been said now.
I don’t give a fuck what he is leaning on,just as long as he is in our shirt.
Take a bow Edwards!

‘Thiago should be a great signing for Liverpool - and another ‘what if’ moment for Man Utd. Thiago was Alex Ferguson’s leaving ‘present’ for David Moyes in 2013. Years of scouting, everything agreed. Then Moyes called it off because he didn’t feel he knew enough about the player.’

Not sure why the revisionism comment but a quick trawl through the Thiago and Unreliable Rumours from TIA for the 1st few days after his thread was created shows up these. These are all posts from different and respected posters so this is not a dig at them. TIA was not the most heavily active forum so this represents quite a large percentage of the active posters generally besides the high traffic times when something was really on the go. Loads of people relative to the TIA forums in the initial stages just could not see it happening nor wanted it to happen for various reasons.

‘‘Don’t know maybe it’s due to my liking of Gini and Hendo and my unwillingness to see them dropped for Thiago. I do get you’re view but I just feel our real issue is lack of depth at left back. I’d reckon if his injury record was better and was a few years younger I’d agree with you more, like a Havertz for example.’’

‘‘I’ll still eat my hat if this happens…’’

‘‘Well in these times with the transfer market at a strange place and people like James Pearce saying it will be a quite window so I’d imagine we may only have one signing. And personally I’d rather have a backup left full than a centre midfielder as I think Gini and Hendo have another year left in them at a high level for us.’’

''Seems an odd signing for mine

Not really in the age profile we normally look at and not really the area of the pitch that needs priority reinforcement unless we are about to bid farewell to Gini.

If Klopp wants him thats well enough for me to be onboard’’

‘‘I don’t see sense in this signing. Is Nike involved in any shape or form in this one?’’

‘‘If you are thinking of selling certain midfielders and yet you want the likes of Jones to come through in time then this makes more sense, but that’s the only way it does really.’’

‘‘The only way this might happen would be in a year’s time if he’s been able to run down his contract at Bayern and is available on a free. Assuming the club’s finances are more stable by then it’s something that might make sense. A bit like the deal for Milner. I would be amazed if we did anything before then.’’

''But we are going to drop 30 on Thiago who whilst a very good player comes into a team already well stocked in CM and offers the club no resale value and will command a wage amongst our top earners from the get go.

Dont see it happening.

If we want to get an older wiser established player then Willian on a free makes a lot more sense to me.‘’

‘‘Basically, a Wijnaldum-Thiago swap in Liverpool’s first eleven next season? I don’t see any progress being made on former’s contract and I don’t see anyone paying that money for Thiago this summer (cue Juventus going all in to sign him on a pre-contract in January).’’

''Given that we have probably just blown £100m on a virus and that most other clubs will be in the same boat I can’t see us spending any significant amount unless it is a must-fill position and/or a very promising long term prospect.

If it was us pushing for a deal I doubt we would have heard a thing. The club got their fingers burnt signing VVD so I think they are far more cagey.

We’ll see but I’m not expecting to see first team starters signing this summer.‘’

‘‘Thought about this. Not going to happen. Just another player who is hoping that the best club in the world will come for his signature.’’

''The ‘FSG out. We missed out on…’ brigade will be in full strength if Thiago signs a new contract or signs for City, Arsenal or Tottenham in the end.

We are not interested in him and he is just using us.‘’

From the Unreliable Rumours Thread

‘‘Really, Thiago is on his 2nd or 3rd groin surgery, is 29 years old and is on high wages…he’s 5 years too late for Liverpool. 1. We should never sign injured players(see Aquilani), 2. There will be NO resale value 3. His wages will be ridiculous for a chronically injured player. I would hope we pass on him. Why we would sign him and pass on Werner is beyond me.’’

‘‘Something wrong with Gini’s new contract? Surely we have other priorities and finances are limited.’’
