Thiago Alcantara (CM) Bayern Munich

Virgil…

… but generally, you are correct and I’m sure Tiago will not be rushed.

I expect he might be with the squad on Sunday, there is no quarantine in place from Germany.

I would expect his first minutes to be Lincoln or Arsenal.

Way I see it, his last great season will be his 4th with us at 32-33.

Also the German league is more like ours in a way, I never had an issue with Matip and Firmino coming across from there.

Guys, I have to admit I knew Thiago was class but hadn’t seen a ton of him (focusing intently on him and evaluating him). Then I went on YouTube and watched a comp and within 2 minutes I was like “WHAT. A. PLAYER!” Gives the midfield the extra dimension that we don’t have and with the advent of sports science and many players (except Rooney) hitting high levels into their 30s, I think he has a good few years yet. And while cover for the front three/transitioning as they age is important and I am hopeful Sarr comes, this addresses perhaps the one real area people felt we would do to address. Buzzing.

I’d say that this guy might want to be used as the no. 6, as Hendo seems to do his best work in that RCM position, rather than back deeper. I remember when he moved up the field towards the run in towards 2018-19 (the Stoke game in particular) and he was great there.

That new feature where you can have a poll without discussion looks awesome @ubermick

He feels like the sort of player that Klopp could very well slot in almost immediately. Has the experience and obviously has the skill. I think he’ll be introduced a lot quicker than Mini, Fab and Naby were.

And just potentially goes to show how Keita and Thiago complement each other

I think Thiago will also bring a big boost to Bobby, there were times last season he was deeper than our midfielders trying desperately trying to link attack and midfield.

Thiago will free Bobby to be much further forward and playing on the center backs.

In his first season at Bayern they won the title by 19 points (90-71 from 34 games). Admittedly, that was down from 25 the previous year. It could go either way for us this year but for sure we’ll still win Atacântera

Truly awful. :joy:

I think we should have an annual TAN worst pun trophy; there have been plenty of candidates already.

Half of which are from me, admittedly.

Older and ready players like van Dijk and Becker where strait in, I expect Thiago will be too.

With the style of play that he has, It’s not going to be that much of an issue.

Em…Um…Virgil,Salah,Mane,Gini ?

Yeah, I remember how Van Dijk in his first game looked like he’s been here for years, and it’s his backline to lead. Commanding and confident. Thiago will be of similar mould IMO, lot might depend on what Klopp sees in training sessions, but won’t be more than 2-3 games.

Our midfield is good, but he’ll provide that extra lifting of all players around him just by his quality.

He wont play v cheslea - hes not had a pre-season and been on extended break after CL run.
I dont expect him to feature v Arsenal either.

If he starts as the #6 there won’t be a problem for him to settle.

As a #8 our football will clearly look different with him without the ball.

He’ll get a run against Lincoln i guess.

:flushed: Crazy if these numbers are true. Won’t matter much other than some banter, but amazing nonetheless.
