Fact is that James and TAA should both be going then it’s between Walker and Trippier. Here I favour Walker simply because he can also play as an emergency CB. Harsh on Trippier, maybe, but he would have known what the odds were…

He would have been gutted to have missed out and it would have seriously affected his morale. When he was left out last time I thought it would be good for him. He wasn’t playing well and he needed the extra motivation, but last few weeks he’s been brilliant both in attack and defence. Proved himself again as one of the world’s best. No doubt he was going to be picked.

This has been the dumbest fucking story.
Trent left out of a meaningless round of games in favour of alternatives who hadnt been playing as much, which was a totally reasonable way of sensibly using your players. The press report this means Southgate wont take him in the final squad and Southgate gets slated as if that was true and the decision had already been made. Southgate then does the obvious thing and picks Trent.
It’s just been 2 months of teeth gnashing over something that was unlikely to happen and didn’t happen

or they leaked on purpose just to generate attention and interest in what would otherwise be an a team roster that very few really cared about… while planning to take Trent the whole time.

Yeah, but they are unnecessarily putting the spotlight on a single (or a couple of players), rather than building a naturally cohesive squad.
I just hope that TAA takes all these crap in strides, get a few assists, score a few goals that Kane cannot claim on his daughter’s life, and put up an excellent defensive display to shut them all up.
