Yes
Thanks for being so clear
In all seriousness, he played his new role - ostensibly RB, just very often not in the space you expect a RB to be found in (i.e. anchoring the midfield)
If someone told me that conversation went like this, I would have not been surprised:
Jurgen : Hey Trent, you know your favourite dog?
Trent: Yeah, of course. I brought him with me to today. Weāre going for a run later. Donāt you just love him too?
Jurgen: You mean loved. The team coach ran over him a few minutes ago.
Trent: Whaā¦
Jurgen: Oh yeah, tragic but weāll get you another even better one.
Trent: I donāt want anotā¦
Jurgen: Now listen, make sure you track their left wing, eh? Iām off to tell Virg heās gonna be Captain.
Would it make sense to permanently convert Trent to a midfielder and sign a right back instead?
Yes, and it drives me crazy!
Or get in a player with similar attributes to Konate to cover/rotate (shame that Joe Gomez has had too many injuries, else the title winning season Joe would be perfect for the role).
Pep has essentially gone the way of playing 4 ball playing CB at the back.
Klopp has mentioned many times recently that weāre working ont he system. Man City had most of the ball against Sheff Utd, but Sheff Utd still carved out chancesthat on another day wouldāve seen a couple of them go in.
We see Liverpool matches all the time, so we are concious of the chances we give out. Other teams give out chances too.
Either that or properly balance the box formation with a better deep midfielder and a better suited left back.
Weāre hanging him out to dry again, as if we didnāt learn anything last season. Stupid stuff.
Thereās a saying here that stupid people learn from their mistakes, while smart people learn from the mistakes of others. I really donāt what that makes our clubās hierarchy because theyāre leaving the side short again and it will only get shorter once the injuries start kicking in.
Tactical handling of Trent is another mistake that theyāre not learning from. The whole side looked more balanced in the last two games when we got a man sent off. Suddenly there was cover for Trent, he wasnāt being left isolated anymore (though referee basically gave Gordon free pass at him), he was able to pick his passes and always had men available on his flank.
That said, I really have state my frustration that, even after being given the title of vice-captain, he allowed himself to be rattled by that Evertonian diving rat and give referee an excuse for an early booking. He should really grow a thicker skin and not let stuff like that distract him.
Go with 3 at the back with a double pivot of a Thiago/TAA or Endo/TAA.
Bajcetic started off his career as a CB. Maybe the intent is to use him there more often as well.
He was reacting out of frustration. Pretty natural thing to do when youāve been bundled down by that cunt.
If the referee had given the foul for the push in the backā¦ there would have been no yellow card, because play would have stoppedā¦ Looked to me like the referee was a tad too keen to issue a yellow, for throwing the ball away from Gordons feet, and that took his attention away from the initial push
The guy just needs to be told to stop being a brainless fart at times and have some senses knocked into him to stay switched onā¦ his mistakes are usually very little to do with being a poor player and a lot to do with not knowing what time of day it is or not knowing where his heads supposed to be.
Just let your football do the talking Trent, donāt get caught up in the emotions.
Out for a couple of weeks apparently.
Will miss internationals
May miss Wolves
Not the worst outcome in the world, but I guess now we get to see how we approach a game without him playing that hybrid role
Hope Konateās back by then
Yeah, if Trent is out for the next game, weāll probably just stick with the normal 4-3-3 and play Gomez at RB. Itās not like weāre suddenly lost if we donāt have Trent and the hybrid structure, itās still a work in process anyway. Or maybe start Tsimi ahead of Robbo and play him in the left sided hybrid role, like he did in pre-seasonā¦ joking! Iāve talked to a guy that has followed Endo a bit in Germany and he reckons he might be able to do a job at RB if the team needs it.
Iāve always been of the opinion that a good footballer can play anywhere. The idea that a RB canāt play as a DM or CM Iāve always thought laughable. Granted weāll never see a keeper playing a strikerās role to win a critical match at the end of the seasonā¦ā¦. Ahem.
