Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Real Madrid

Was knowing Klopp would leave at the end of the season one of the reasons we ‘collapsed’ in the title race last season?

Could this happen again if two out of Trent, Mo and Virgil decide not to sign new contracts?

That’s my only worry.

As long as we win the League and/or CL I couldn’t care less who leaves. That’s the priority.

Could put too much pressure on the remaining players but like with Salah it seems to have no affected him or VVD.

Maybe the way Slot has come in might prevent a repeat.

If he goes he goes having been a legend.

We’ve got the right people in place to find us a replacement and a manager who’ll get the best from whoever it is that comes in.

Still hope he stays but if I were a betting man my money would firmly be on a Madrid move in the summer.

I think the club probably has issues with paying a RB the reputable 350k a week! Surely you put yr money in positions which positively impact the team in the new system so prioritise VVD and Salah.
I would pay TAA more but move him to the no 6 we crave and buy a RB! Hes happy money/position and so are we .
The demeanor of Salah and VVD on interviews is its moving fwd if not signed…Salah smiled and said no comment !!!
Trent unless wants a big pay day at RM owes us a fee abliet a low Macca type one!
The extra that RM will pay him ask pool to donate those millions to local good causes…how much money do u need in one life time???

Not to mention winning the Bouteille d’Or, more likely to happen in Rioja country than in soggy Albion.

Domestic continuation of Marca article… Though the title is a bit misleading - while they confirm it, there’s also a “hopeful” part where they state: “Sources close to Liverpool insist no agreement has been reached. And it is understood the player’s only contacts over his future to this date have been with Liverpool.”

That said, the whole tone of the article is a pessimistic one from our perspective (and we’re talking about journalists who are quite close to the club and are also supporters).

He’s either worth what he’s asking or not. Moving him to a 6, a position he hasn’t now played under two club managers, doesn’t justify paying him anymore than playing RB where he’s actually excelled.

Personally I’d take 10% off what he’s asking for for his shitty corner delivery lately.

:100:. I’m genuinely astounded by the entitlement in some of these posts. He was given a contract and has honoured his contract. He’s played a big part in our success over the past years and moments like ‘corner taken quickly’ will live forever no matter what happens next

Michael Owen won us an FA cup final virtually single handedly and look what happened to him.

I take your point though, and I think it largely depends on how he behaves after the transfer, if it happens.

Dear Trent. I’d very much love you to stay at our beloved club. You are and always will be an absolute legend. However if you choose to leave for the glitz and glamor along with the cash and weather of Madrid and you do so with good grace, have a brilliant time. You’ve been immense and in my book, have earned our utmost gratitude and the opportunity to move to Real.

Please do a Rush though and come back once you realise the grass isn’t always greener and I’d like to apologise in advance for repeatedly beating you in the CL

Why do you even assume he is asking for anything? Maybe he just wants the move to Real Madrid. It is understandable. How many get that opportunity? Everyone needs new challenges and I wish him well except when he plays against us of course.

Life is short and playing careers very much shorter and if he doesn’t go and try it he may well regret it in years to come.

I do get paid for that kind of work, so perhaps we could agree on some kind of stipend?

Two of the best posts on this.
The club are either not worried about replacing him, or resigned to losing him in the summer.
Or option three, he is staying.
Everything else is speculation.
Maybe Slot doesn’t see him as a long term RB in the style he is developing?

One way or other he has been tremendous.
Players come and go, supporters have a strange sense of entitlement.

Even if he goes though , him and his family will all still be Liverpudlians until the day they die. I’d think long and hard about what being treated like an outcast in your own city would feel like.

I really wonder that after so many examples of players for whom it just didn’t work out, careers which seemed so promising come to toss… why do players still feel like moving to Madrid/ Barca? Hazard Coutinho and so many other thought it’ll be a step up but never were able to then fulfill their potential or live up to what they might have had in their previous clubs.

Don’t think players and their agents/ families are that stupid. Maybe we are missing something and just the chance of playing there still is a huge thing despite players very well knowing that there’s a huge chance it’ll all end up badly.

Money, weather, bigger chances of trophies.

Barca turned into a horrible club in recent years but joining Real is actually a no brainer especially if they have a vacancy in the position you play - which they certainly have in Trent’s case.

Hazard and Jovic come to my mind as flop signings in the last decade but other than that it worked out for most players.

Bale?

Not sure that anyone who scored twice in a Champions League final can be labelled a flop.

Had some injury problems in the end and lacked the winner mentality to keep going but was still a very good player for them.

Who won more trophies so far - Trent or Bale?

Like I said. No brainer.

Its hard to say he is moving for trophies when we are top of the league, top of the CL and into the semi-finals of the LC.

I’m fine with him wanting a new challenge or a new experience but why does it always have to come with a caveat that downplays how good Liverpool are?

I grew up in Liverpool and made the decision early that I didn’t want to live in the same city I grew up in. Nothing wrong with having ambitions to do different things in life.
