Same here, although I moved away through lack of opportunity rather than any desire to seek fortune elsewhere.
Outwardly he looked like a successful signing, but the fans got on his back big time and Perez egged it on. He was treated like shit, and it was only Bale’s relative detachment from football that allowed him to shrug it off and give it back to them with his Wales, Golf, Madrid slogan that made it not as problematic for him as it would have been for most.
I think he’d be mad to leave when we’re potentially on the verge of something great, and he could establish an even greater legacy within that. RM would be a gamble. He might become a legend there or the fans could reject him within 6 months.
Can still understand why a change could be tempting
Yep every misplaced or overhit pass when they aren’t up 3-0 will be whistled and if Real have a rough patch lookout! I can see the fans turning on him and Real flogging him for a large profit in the summer of 26 and he’ll end up playing for another English club.
Edit: the original article is here:
I really can’t take much more of this gloating, condescending tone, even though they’ve only just begun.
“Real Madrid will complete all the details but will remain quiet so not to upset Liverpool”
Bar tell their press outlets every bit of detail.
Anyhow get Salah and VVD signed and explore your options this summer.
Also wish Ath Madrid all the best in their chase even though I absolutely hate them.
We forget sometimes that journalists can also find out things…
It’s impossible for a potential deal on a free at the top level like this to be totally silent until it’s announced.
I highly doubt it will affect our season. So far we’re doing good, the players look really focused and motivated to have a successful season here.
Anyway, there are two sides needed for any agreement.
We cannot offer anything to anyone, that is clear. So “we should’ve given him this or that” doesn’t tell the full story, the player has his wishes and needs to agree.
The club probably tried multiple times to extent with Trent, but if he had this possibility in his mind a while ago, it’s not like I can fault him either, he gave and is still giving his all.
Better or worse form here and there is just normal.
We were good for him, he was good for us. Brilliant in fact, vice versa.
His last extension wasn’t really too long (from the club’s perspective), he probably wanted to see exactly where we would be as a club and team when he’s 25-26.
When he had 2 years left on his deal, we had that shit season coupled with key people above the coach leaving.
I have no idea whether this is an easy decision for him or a tough one. In both cases, I understand.
It doesn’t have to be anything against Liverpool, but if this opportunity is something that prevails for him and too good to turn down, I get it.
If it wasnt Madrid and AS perhaps…
But two parties who are typical of this kind of journalism. I wish him all the best but I’m only interested how the club responds.
Far better players than him have left and we’ve survived.
If Alexander-Arnold-McMannaman-Owen decides to to go, then fuck him
What has come out of Trent’s mouth so far, let’s see: three things stand out for me:
-
He wants to captain LFC
He is second in command now. First in command is many years older, so his time is coming sooner rather than later for this wish to materialize. -
He wants to develop his game and get better and better. Also said that he is totally impressed by Slot, both regarding to what he is doing with the team, and with him personally. The development of his defensive side is already evident, and it’s just the beginning.
-
He wants to win trophies. Based on No.2, and the table, we look far more likely than Madrid to win more trophies this season already, and probably in the next couple of years to come as well.
Also, it seems that influential LFC people that he admires are giving him advice (Gerrard, etc.).
He has witnessed fellow players leaving and not making it, and saw how it can end up (Mane, Coutinho, etc.).
Also, I expect that his family will be encouraging him to stay (though I’d like to check that more precisely).
And now because Real wants him, Marca promotes it as it usually does, and he’s friends with Bellingham (as if he has no friends in LFC and he needs a friend elsewhere), he’s definitely gone?
Also, this just in from Trent:

I wish we could hold on a bit before we start taking the bait that Marca wants us to take.
Blame Salah’s cats.
Placeholder to interpret his goal celebration later.
I took it was all talk.
If he stays great, if he goes all the best but I couldn’t give a shit about Real.
It’s all very cryptic
Trent to Mo
‘Next season we will be terrorizing La Liga teams with Real Madrid’
“I’m gonna be earning more than you from next season la”
Getting a bit tiresome to be honest.
He is trolling the fuck out of us all now.
To be fair, I probably would do the same if I were him.
