Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Real Madrid

It would be bizarre considering in the whole much maligned Ballon d’Or interview, he explicitly says that it’s not up to him if he gets to be captain.

I remember my Man United-supporting mate saying ages ago, when we were discussing Vidić’s contract negotiations, how they were not a club that bought player’s loyalty by offering the captain’s armband and how he could do one if that was his requirement. Coincidence or not, he signed that deal and became their captain.

I really don’t think that armband is Trent’s requirement. I’d wager a guess that someone on Twitter invented that rumour, which was later picked up by the worst of the worst news outlets, who further spread it.

Neil Atkinson from the TWA wrote a very good and sensible article about the Trent contract issues in todays mirror.

That’s why I said if true, but we know Trent has mentioned it and if that was a sticking point then I just stated what I think in regarding to earning it.

Also, I don’t think he typifies what I see as an on field captain, based on what I see in his body language/effort in certain situations.

One angle that should be considered… What would be more lucrative for Trent’s agent in these transfer negotiations…?
If the agent is his brother, Tyler (PLG ltd)… then surely that guy will be squeezing for the area that brings him his riches…!

$300k per week, a good offer for a full back

Saw an article where he reportedly wants £350k
Take that with a pinch of salt, but if true he can fuck off

Why

Because he’s not worth anywhere close to that amount.
In my opinion

Value is relative. RM will pay him at least that much at a lower tax rate and all. That said, I don’t want us fucking over the wage structure for one player. Not sure if tell him to “fuck off”, but if that’s what he wants and someone’s willing to pay it, then go get your money young man, and best of luck to you.

Blowing up the wage structure for a single player would be fucking insanity after years of outstanding work.

£350k a week? Third behind Virgil and Mo. A player in his peak years. Vice Captain who helped the club win everything. At the club all his life. Senior debut at 18. One of the best in the world in his position with unique passing skills from that position.

Well deserved in my opinion

It’s £300k per week. £78m across 5 years.

No one deserves a salary that high, least of all a footballer. But it’s modern football and in a wage structure he probably does rank around 3rd, given his service and market value.

Also if he wanted to go to RM in a couple of years’ time we’d have paid less than half of that 78m and they’d be paying us a lot more!

If he helps us win PL(premiship money) and CL(champions league money) and brings in vast amounts of sponsorship will the income out weigh his outgoings (ie) wages…just a thought…as u can see I’m no high flying accountant or contract analyst…but it was just a thought.

When VVD signed his current contract, he was slightly older than TAA now but was undoubtedly the best, not one of, CB in the world and his wages were still in the mid 200s.

TAA is a key player, has given us some of the best moments in our recent history but he is definitely not the VVD of RB in the world. He is one of the top players in the world but at best, he probably should be earning as much as VVD current contract.

But as I mentioned before, he is in the driving seat. He will have plenty to choose from no Matter what his motivations are for the next contract.

Try and keep up

Name a better right back than Trent for what hes required to do for us. I don’t want what you believe he should be doing its what we see him do week in week out the passes the crosses.

For what he does, he is great but you really want to call him the best RB in the world? There are plenty of RBs who cannot cross like him but can tackle and track his man better, is that an important quality of a great RB? Of course TAA is an unique and important player. But if VVD, the greatest CB in I would say the PL history gets that level of wages when he renewed at 28, there is no way the current TAA is better as a RB than VVD was as a CB at a similar age. VVD is almost a complete player. I am not even arguing that he should be getting a low wage. Getting a high 200s wage will still put him as top 3 wage earners in LFC.
