too early. damn you
He will be lucky to get off the bench once in while. He should have spoken to Rush before deciding to go. Anyway good luck to him he may be fancying a bit more of the Spanish sunshine and the lifestyle.
Really?
I just remember the people who couldn’t wait to get rid of him to “upgrade” on him with Thiago.
That Ballon d’Or thing is vastly irrelevant, but to be fair, Roberto Carlos won it as a full back playing for Real Madrid.
I’m not sure that there will be a space for him then, unless we start mucking about with the team again. If all goes well, Bradley will be 23 and a superstar by then.
Yeah, the attitude to Gini turned on the basis of him being a near ever present in a poorly performing side so was the one it was easy to point to as not being good enough despite being the only one to avoid the injury bug that year.
He’s a brilliant player and I think he’ll do well there if they can sort their systemic issues out. Seem a bit of a basket case club currently.
We move on with Bradley. Would be brilliant to see him give a MOM performance at the weekend!
As a midfielder?
Honestly if Slot feels he can use him.. and he’s a world class player so we shouldn’t have issues if he wants back to fit in.. I’ll be all open to it. Ofcourse it should not be a Pogba case of us having to pay 100 MN again. For free worth considering IMO.
I’m fine with the principle, but unless RM gives him a two-year deal, which seems unlikely, I don’t see how him coming back would work unless it would be for a huge fee.
Ian Rush…
I don’t regret going. My time at Juventus improved me in every way, both as a person and player. I didn’t do as badly as everybody tries to make out, either. I scored 13 league and cup goals in my only season and was top scorer at the club. Most importantly, though, it means I can look back on my career and not wonder about what might have been
And the whole “it was like a foreign country” is not something he ever said. It was a joke made by Kenny years after the fact. It did not go down well with Rush, in part because he felt he had always had to fight the perception he was a failure there who fought to come him, and the fact Kenny pushed that was something that caused friction between them for a period.
"It is understood the Spanish club are considering an offer of about £850,000 to release Alexander-Arnold early from his deal.
It has also been suggested Real might be willing to pay the wages Liverpool owe Alexander-Arnold as they seek a solution."
Fuck off meringue scum.
I mean at this point, a million quid or so as a bridge fee and a couple of weeks of wages is better than a kick in dick.
Loads to unpack here. I think we will be better off in the long run. Trent did magic through the first half of his time here. From a certain point there oft were times where he was a liability while offering nothing of what made him great. There were actually bad times with the good when it came to him, more good of course, but there were low points as well and in all honesty, he’s been far more average to middling than on the upper end of the scale for a while. Aside from not getting a transfer fee, it’s probably the right time for a change in that position.
On a personal level and that of a fan, I genuinely think that he has done the Club a disservice, though and it is bit of a sour note. It’s quite clear that this was on the cards and he’s opted out when other players who could have quite rightly moved on have chosen to see out the top end of their careers with Liverpool while the homegrown boy has decided that he want’s to try new things. Fair enough, he’s entitled to do so just as anyone thinking he’s pulled a bit of a fast one are entitled to think that as well. Where it’s getting a bit nauseating is people telling other people how they should feel about it as if there is only one angle to view it in and it tends to be the people who are saying he’s entitled to go with no ill will that seem to be the more smarmy about it, escpcially the idea that because a player left certain Club to join us on a free then we shouldn’t feel aggrieved that it happened to us. Pah, we’re allowed to be happy when a player chooses us just as the fans of the other club are free to feel aggrieved about it.
Then there is the ‘legend’ angle. It’s a nebulous thing that nobody can truly explain and nobody can truly quantify, just like Club folklore. It’s a natural thing and people feel it, or they don’t, and over time it coalesces into names and games and goals and saves and managers and cult heroes. His corner stays, himself… probably not, as strange and counterintuitive as that may sound. And what is that worth, I’ve seen pointed out. Nothing to anyone else but to us, priceless.
Add 2 zero’s and we might talk about an early release
If it’s after our season ends (and it should be?), of course take it. Try to negotiate the best possible fee (plus getting rid of his wages earlier) and move on.
Management will see it much more pragmatically than fans. League is won and there’s nothing else to play for. Why would they turn the money down? I think it will get done.
Don’t really care. Trent has given us brilliant memories but he’s now yesterday’s news
Get as much out of it as possible. He can’t sign until that window opens anyhow. And as much as I despise Madrid, I’d rather them than Man City win this tin pot Trump trophy.
Because it’s game theory - don’t give a rival something valuable too cheap even if it’s not worth anything to yourself. Real need to be shown that we are orrible cunts and we will not tolerate them taking the piss; they must not think we are a supermarket where they can have whatever they want. So yes it’s worth turning down a few weeks wages to make a point that Madrid can’t take our player and then have us let him leave early. In the past we’ve bent over for clubs like Dortmund and others and paid extra fees to Southampton and facilitated Brighton. We shouldn’t be facilitating Real in this issue when they are giving us so very little. Trent can sit on a beach or be made to wait at Kirkby instead. If he and Real don’t like it, pay up fuckers.
