Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Real Madrid

Yeah I forgot all about that. Didn’t we sell him before his punishment had even been decided on?

I don’t think so, I seem to recall him being banned pretty quickly by FIFA and his banned being announced between the semi’s and the final possibly.

You’re right. I’m confusing it with the appeal I think.

Gerrard has been quoted more than once he believed the bite was done intentionally to force the clubs had to sell him.

Gerrard also believes that Hodgson was a better manager than Rafa, that Sturridge was just imagining his injuries, so perhaps not the most reliable source of information.

All of this is avoided if he’d just waited until the season was done to make his decision public.

Everyone knew he was leaving. The whole video announcement thing was so he could have his moment to say goodbye and drink in what he supposed would be adoring adulation.

Difference between his situation and someone like Firmino leaving is this is entirely his decision. He’s planned out his exit. He’s told us all he wants to be somewhere else. What did he really expect the reaction would be?

I agree. If someone commited a mistake, it’s Trent. The timing of his announcement should have been after Crystal Palace. He brought it on himself, but hey, he won’t be too fussed. He must surely have expected some form of backlash from the fans. He’s no spring chicken anymore.

Suarez is one of the best players to ever play for Liverpool but will never be a Liverpool legend. His behaviour to try to get himself out of Liverpool after all that the club and fans done to get behind him during his biting-gate and his racist-gate and amongst others, and while there is nothing wrong celebrating when he score against us in the CL, all the behaviour adds up that he really loves himself more than he ever loved the club and fans.

and while TAA again could have left in better circumstances or better still, not leave, to be compared to Suarez in any manner is an insult to what TAA has done for this club in his time as a player for us.

This is feeling a little like damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. He gets slammed for not offering transparency but then also gets slammed for doing a video announcement?

One would hope the fanbase wouldn’t react like a jilted lover, but I guess that’s too much to ask for in this social media age…

Like don’t get me wrong, I’m petty enough that I won’t wish the rest of his career well, nor will I wish that for anyone who chooses to leave us when they could have a successful career with us. I would happily boo him if he comes back to play against us, but simply not when he’s still wearing the Liverpool top and under contract here.

I guess by common sense, that should be the right timing. But I think he was probably under alot of pressure to comment. And I remembered an article somewhere that after we won the title beating the Spurs, that TAA has no more reasons to not comment on his future anymore because for Liverpool FC, there is nothing else to talk about except his future so every interview, every press conference, every news article about LFC will be about his future and he is probably advised to address it once and for all and not let any more speculation. In my opinion, there is probably no best time, I would say the booing would have caught many by surprise because while its expected that there will be a section of fans who are angry or disappointed but booing to the extent seen yesterday, is quite extraordinary. And unfortunately, he has made his decision and as a professional player, he does have to suck it up even if I do not think that should be done.

For me the person/people who decided that before the end of the season was a good time to announce the departure, title won or not, have misread the situation. Should have waited until all games had been played. I don’t see what benefit there was to making the announcement when it was made. Given where he was going and how (at the end of contract) some were always going to be upset by it regardless of any realities or nuance to the situation.

We all seem so entitled and precious.
Let’s just try and get over it.
At the end of the EPL champions parade Trent will become a distant memory to me.

Shouldn’t have made a difference. Klopp didn’t get this shit and he walked out mid contract.

You aren’t a professional footballer first.

Thats just a level beyond tin hat wearing conspiracy theorist. So taking that logic we should never clap a player who’s had a shot but goes wide because they will start to think its ok to miss.

I have a friend who due to an issue in her life know suffers from extreme Agoraphobia. Her one release is Liverpool Football club. She buys all the merchandise every year, she gets friends to post programmes out to her. She has the top membership package. She subscribes to all LFC related content and would definitely love to attend games.

But going on your logic this isn’t a proper fan just because she doesn’t get to gets.

I think its time to get off that antiquated notion of whats a fan.

This is getting silly now.

What is exactly.

The story was that, in 2004, Gerrard wanted Alan Curbishley while Michael Owen favoured Rafa. We sign him while lil Mickey fucks off to Real Madrid to win the ‘big trophies’ . Sometimes actions speak louder than opinions.
