The Klopp comparison for starters.

Putting the Ballon D’or above another CL medal screams big ego

Whats different Klopp had a contract and walked out on the club. Trent fulfilled his contract.

Because these two situations are definitely the same and should be viewed as such.

The discourse around Trent.

A few people booed. Then a few people booed the people booing. Big deal. It was always going to happen. Move on. Trent will be fine. He’s made his decision and we’ll all be alright. I suspect now that moment happened and people have vented, we’ll all just crack on.

I find the booing a bit daft, but I also find the trying to police people’s emotional reaction in a game that thrives on emotion even dafter.

Trent is entitled to do what he wants - it’s his life and no-ne can stop him, but people are entitled to react how they want to that.

Personally I think Trent should have kept his gob shut until after the parade and it would have been a bit easier all round. Not sure what he thought was to gain from going now, after being patient all year.

The parade should be fun.

Wonder if Trent will be in a Pope-mobile behind the main bus?

Pope-mobile?

More like a Dope-mobile.

Tbh it’s all becoming a bit tiring, the only thing I hope is it doesn’t ruin the mood for the trophy lift and the parade. After that I can’t wait to see the back of him and this circus, and focus on the plans we have for the summer. That’s it.

Why aren’t they two employees of the club left.

One fulfilled his contract

One walked out mid contract.

Which is getting the shit.

One moved to take care of his mental health and the other moved to take care of his ego/bank balance?

Does it? I think the past few years have pretty much shown, as is commonly stated in debates among fans about it, that you pretty much have to win the Champions League or some other international tournament to win the Ballon d’Or. Pretty sure it was implied in the interview if not outright stated (my memory is a little fuzzy on that).

One then took a job after walking out mid contract 4 months later. See we can all make stuff to justify points.

One is a player and the other a manager.

One left to join a rival the other is taking a break.

One left in a way which is financially beneficial to the rival and themselves and the other didn’t.

There are quite a lot of differences. Especially in how the contracts of the two different positions are generally managed in the context of a football club.

I don’t blame Trent, for him it’s a natural career move. You need to be aware of how fans will judge your actions though and he, or those advising him, haven’t been.

I’m not making points, I asked the asked question. That’s why the ? at the end.

What did booing really achieve though? It’s not like he’s going to stay back or in future players will not want to leave us.

The other took a 4 month break so whats the difference.

That was part of my point, that if anything the net effect on players would be negative, that fewer players would want to come to us to begin with.

Did Jürgen cost us a fee by leaving the way he did?
Did he go to a European rival?
Did he plan his exit for months/years in advance?

I see you’ve grouped them as “employees” to cover the fact they had vastly different roles. And decided Klopp walked out instead of acknowledging he felt he could no longer do the job.

If you can’t see why people might have entirely different emotions about the two situations then I can only assume you’re looking for reactions because it’s entirely disingenuous to pretend the two things are the same.

He is still not a manager or coach of a rival team is he? He’s still on a break from coaching/team management. He’s only likely to return as manager of Germany. So he no longer wanted to continue doing the job/role he was doing.
