Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Real Madrid

Isn’t it funny. All these commentators, pundits and journos have had a lot to say about Trent getting booed once but Partey gets booed at most away games, and has done for a couple years, and yet none of them have had anything to say about that.

It’s almost as if the act of getting booed isn’t that big a deal unless they want to make a story out of it.

Aren’t there legal reasons they can’t talk about why Partey gets booed? Allegedly.

That’s sort of my point. They all ignore the Partey booing because they can’t make a story of it when really there’s a much bigger issue there.

And I assume it is the opposition fans booing him and not Arsenal fans. Hardly worth creating a story every time opposition players get booed. The story is that a player has been loudly booed by his own fans in their own stadium.

You don’t think there’s a story in why one player gets booed almost anywhere he goes?

Selective outrage from the media as usual.

Booing anyone on your own team, especially when the match is going on, is stupid. The game is there to win, you should be supporting your own team. Doesn’t matter what happens in the future. Right now, by booing you only damage the team’s energy. It affects the whole team not just the targeted individual.

Trying to make a comparison of opposition fans booing someone to Trent been booed by his own fans and the different reactions is just priceless.

The thing with TAA, and he has done himself no favours here with the way the whole thing has unfolded… Firstly, whenever he was questioned about the contract saga, he always dismissed the enquiry by stating, as per his earlier contract negotiations, he wont discuss, or announce anything until the end of the season… and here we are, 6/7weeks from the end of the season and he announces his plans…

Secondly, there are, and have been an awful lot of rumours flying around in the City and amongst the fans regarding these drawn out events…
None of which TAA has acknowledged, NOR put to bed.

For instance, it is common knowledge that some people believe TAA gave a commitment to RM around the same time Bellingham signed for them. Some fans even believe, RM got some form of documentation signed by TAA, meaning if he had a change of heart, if would cost TAA an eight figure sum, if he were to backtrack on this promissory style of note. Apparently, this is something he has considered doing this season, upon realising this AS guy of ours, might not be the numpty many pundits dismissed him to be…

While we never expected a Kevin Keegan type of announcement, where he stated 12months earlier he would be leaving us - never ever recall KK being booed at any point during his last season with us..!

IMHO, what will really wind up a Scouser though, is being taken for a fool, or treated like one. Someone on here mentioned we are known to be vindictive/spiteful… and while that may be the opinion of some outsiders with no track record of living in the City/Liverpool… what we are, is principled on an awful lot of matters, it is ingrained in us…

On the face of it, as fans, and certainly to those closest to our Anfield home… it looks like TAA has fucked us about, when, if truth be told, there has never really been a need to do so…
He will never be accepted as ‘one of us’ ever again… sad as that is… he has brought it upon himself, in what seems to be, the snidey way, he has dangled his fanbase on strings all season long.

When you add a lot of this together, along with many many other rumours about him, it becomes obvious he will be booed and cast out by many fans, Scousers in particular.

Not sure if he has been seen parading in the shirt of RM yet… If he does, or already has, well, it really will be the final nail in his
LFC legacy. He spoke of being here for 20yrs… yet he seems to forget, that is more of a privilege than the shackled ankle prison sentence it can be interpreted as… What 6yr old kid, would not love to begin such a journey, and have the talent, training, guidance and teachings instilled into them, the way TAA was fortunate enough to harness.

All of that essentially boils down to, he’s getting booed because people are spreading rumours about him.

His actual words I believe were that his past contracts were not negotiated in the media, and that this contract wouldn’t be either. A promise he has fulfilled, no?

My memory is that he was indeed booed.

Also I found this on a Liverpool history site.

I can remember the crowd chanting “What’s it like to be a twat?” at Kevin Keegan after he announced his decision to leave Liverpool.

Ahhhhh okies… I know he fell from grace quite quickly after his announcement, but he was predominately an honest guy, who told everyone what his plans were…

Yeah you could be right… but they are only rumours if they are not true… Whether they have any legs or substance to them, will no doubt surface further down the line… We watch and wait eh :0)

That’s pretty much my point. He could well be the devil incarnate, or the club could have massively undervalued him simply because he’s Scouse, or many other things in between.

We simply do not know, and we really shouldn’t be rushing to judgement. That’s literally been my stance from the start, throughout this entire time.

You are right… but it is not a trial in the court of law were both sides are presented as evidence, before you can come to a decision. The booing, and the personal reasons it was brought about by the partaking individuals, was because people reacted to what they believe in that instant…
Can’t wait weeks down the line to see cast iron evidence of one thing or another, because the guy won’t be here, and the opportunity to make your feelings known, immaterial of whether right or wrong, will be lost…

Or, we should all accept that in general, us humans can overreact very strongly to things and we really should do better to be better…

Exactly. While I won’t condemn or congratulate those that booed, the same goes for those that remained silent…
We are who we are… fans that have differing opinions on just about everything…
TAA is leaving us as a rich young man, who has played under two great managers and won honours only other footballers can dream about… He has had the adulation of the fanbase, if a percentage of that support has turned sour, Im sure in the scale of things, TAA will survive longterm

Surely he wouldn’t have been so stupid (and ill advised) to sign something like that. Not to mention that it may be sufficient evidence that Real have acted improperly. I’d find that unbelievable without specific evidence from a very authoritative unbiased source.

Scouse not English, that’s what this is all about. And that’s not understood. The home crowd expresses its feelings through banners, songs and boos. It’s always been this way. That’s what defines Anfield. And when it shows its displeasure and disappointment, you have to put up with it, even if not everyone likes it or understands it. I’m tired of this discussion.

Aren’t we all? Player X leaves, some fans are upset because they think Player X owes them something because he’s from (insert name of club’s location). Player X doesn’t think the same way. Player X thinks playing is his job and he is going to seize the opportunity to play for the biggest name in his industry. Player X thinks the fans of his current club will understand that and will show their gratitude for all he has done for the club.

Player X is badly advised, egotistical and not very bright.

Insert sport of your choice.

“Scouse not English”? Seems a bit odd from someone who’s neither scouse nor English.

I’m interested to know people’s opinions on what would be the best way for TAA to leave. Short of signing a new contract with a release clause, which would jeopardize the whole move altogether.

It seems to me that he was in a no-win situation no matter how he went about it.
