Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Real Madrid

You know fine well what I was referring to.
But fair point

Dunno, I understand his handicap came down quite a bit.

I was in an Arsenal pub (Tollington Arms) not far from the Emirates, having jumped out of an A&B gig. Arsenal fans were celebrating as i sat alone at the bar wanting a hole in the ground to appear and swallow me up

Is Arteta counting that as a trophy for them?

Arteta considers having a good shit a reason to have a parade so yes

Should never have gone in. Karius didn’t even go at it full stretch and if anything pulled his hands back. Great technique, brilliant effort but never saw all the gushing about it, myself.

Always questioned why Karius did that. He was in position to tip it over.

Maybe he was concussed or something.

Just the one factor: Real cheating and scummy deliberately injuring our players. Both the Salah takedown and Karius assault should have been dealt with very differently on the pitch by the ref and our players. It’s definitely one of Klopps weaknesses. Furthermore we should have had someone like James Milner (or some under 18 kid) kill the likes of Mbappe or whoever in response. The white scum deserve royal retaliation for what happened.

Someone earlier in this bileathon said they new Trent intended to leave at the end of this contract because he only signed a 4 year deal. So i guess this applies to Bradley too seeing he’s done a 4 year deal too.

You can’t keep something like that secret, it was clear that someone would put it online

‘Summer of 66’ is corny and cringe but it’s a farewell party. Who gives a damn.

The scorned lover attitude within some sections of the fanbase is getting really tiring and off-putting. Frimpong can’t sign soon enough, that should give them something else to fawn over/obsess about, at least for a while.

Bit harsh to blame a 20 year old playing for Monaco for what Real Madrid did…

As in retaliate. If Real think they can steal a CL final from us with GBH then we’d break their players in response. Could be a perfect way to end a summer tour. Of course Kylian isn’t specifically to blame but the point is to harm Madrid, whatever it takes.

I agree with you 100% but it’s not going to happen. We’re a soft touch on and off the pitch.
Gerrard was the last player we had with that nasty streak in him that led him to put some tackles in that could have resulted in serious injury to the opponent. Milner to an extent, and Robbo can be a cunt but more in a wind-up sort of way.
Since that final in 2018 we’ve seen that baby-face cunt Casimeiro put a bad one in on Robbo at Anfield in the behind closed doors game and this season that fat little gobshite Endrick put Konate out for a couple of months. We’ve not layed a glove on them in return.
Same with Everton, still got fucking yard-dogs like Tarkovski putting in leg-breakers on our lads with what happened to VVD, Thiago and Origi fresh in the memory.
It’s a different game but it wouldn’t have happened in the 70’s and 80’s, there’d have been a price to pay.

Can you imagine Souness or Case, let alone Smith not straightening Tarkowski, or Ramos?

I have always advocated for a player of that sort to let teams know we cannot be bullied.
Much as I dislike Roy Keane he was that player…

I know its not the modern game, but the assaults on Liverpool players like Salah, MacAllister and VVD were game or season defining moments. One thick fucker would lay down a marker.

We have to contextualise though…

Look at how Rodri, Fernandinho, Joelinton, Guimares get away with it?
Oh wait, none of them play for Liverpool…

I think this is the most important part. It’s not that our players can’t be physical, it’s that they play for us. @jaffod you can’t have it both ways, you can’t claim that the referees are biased against us but then suggest that our players ought to do something like that, since by your premise if any of our players try that they’re more likely to get banned for the rest of the season than anything else.

If fairness existed, you can have it both ways…
Either Rodri/Joelinton get booked every game or no one else does?
Thats the missing piece. We could be saints or sinners in that scenario.

I’m pretty sure we have quite a few players who could be thugs if needed, like Robertson, van Dijk, Jota, Díaz, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, etc.

But beyond that there’s also the point that it’s a very stuck-in-the-mud mentality because it’s highly unlikely that most “modern” players would get rattled by something like that. Look at Salah as an example. Hit him hard? He’ll just dance around you or attempt to win the foul. Núñez? Good luck with that. Jota? Either you’ll break him or you’re going to lose your ankles in return “by accident”. Fernandes? Would spend the whole game rolling around trying to get you sent off.

It simply is a terrible tactic, and probably hasn’t worked for far longer than people would like to admit. Look at what (Duncan) Ferguson said about Hyypia for example. Costa tried that in that famous incident and Henderson didn’t take two shits from him.

Think about it, getting “revenge” in those incidents that @jaffod cites is utterly pointless and would only get our own players in danger when we want to win the game not a petty fight for egos. The best revenge would be beating them 7-0.

Ok
The sun is shining in Dublin and I don’t really give a fuck.
I’m not going to argue with you.
I like an enforcer, you don’t see the point.

In the Trent Alexander Arnold thread.
