UEFA Europa League

Outstanding! Thank you for the illustration.

Just noticed that we have a league game against Man City in between our two R16 games.

Hope we get a relatively “easy” draw in this.

Short travel will be nice.

It might even itself out if The Cheaters have a CL game either side also

How does the R16 work? Is there seeding or teams from the same association kept apart in the draw, or is it a free for all?

Said this before. Bet the PL fixture guys will suddenly start to give us a Monday/Thursday turnaround before important EL games.

Sorry, I really should have just scrolled up there.

Yeah they will I believe.

Just looking at the teams currently confirmed for the play-off places (that we could theoretically draw in the next round):

From the CL:

Galatasaray
Lens
Sporting Braga
Benfica
Feyenoord
Young Boys

These will be joined by one of PSG/Newcastle/AC Milan and Porto/Shakhtar Donetsk

We will get a better idea from the Europa League after Thursday night.

Does the draw get made for the last 16 after these play off ties have been played? They have to right?

It would appear to be:

Quarter-finals: 11 and 18 April 2024
Semi-finals: 2 and 9 May 2024
Final: 22 May 2024

When are the 2023/24 Europa League draws?

Third qualifying round: 24 July 2023
Play-off round: 7 August 2023
Group stage: 1 September 2023
Knockout round play-off: 18 December 2023
Round of 16: 23 February 2024

23rd of Feb!!! Lol I was expecting it to be like in a few weeks   So not used to anything Europa

It’s a really messy structure for the competition. We get a bye for the next round which involves lots of teams that weren’t even in it to start with.

I’ve also just noticed that the final is only 3 days before the FA Cup final. We reached both in 2001 which I think was equally hectic.

Following up on this, Legia Warsaw have been fined €100,000 and banned from selling tickets to their supporters for the next five away games in UEFA competitions.

Liverpool v. AC Milan in Dublin doesn’t quite have the same ring to it…

A little less stabby than Istanbul though, and damn near a home game.

As long as one of the names is Liverpool, I don’t care.
