Hehe, got to say that I do kind of appreciate that she just doesn’t care, lol. She knows she is fat and that certain scenes will make her look like a stranded whale, but she just truly doesn’t give a damn and she is kind of sporty as to what she actually says yes to when it comes to .
But thankfully, she and her party will be gone come the next election if polls are an indicator, but I mind her party’s politics and not really her person. She is actually quite likeable a character, such as they come and I do in every way prefer her party leadership to some of the monied “west end” prats from her party, and she has authority because she is highly skilled, not because of money or looks. But I am strongly against her party. She represents the Conservative Party.
I heard Gove say on the radio that in the event of a no deal there may be some minor delays and hold ups at the ports but that it would soon subside as everyone adapts to a new normal after only a few weeks.
When ever I have passed the queque doesn’t get to the motorway at Folkstone (eurotunnel). Which I take as normal as I pass on random weekdays in the afternoon.
Dover I have never encountered any quequeing outside the customs booths which we see in the 1st picture by magnus. (Can be a fucking mess for cars though the security guys there are as thick as shit (securitas I think)).
On occassion at folkstone it can get a bit blocked due to a maintenance issue or something.
For the Eurotunnel it’s quite variable in terms of queues. So it wouldn’t be hard for the news stations to find some footage at the worst part of the day and make a news story out of it. I’m a regular on Eurotunnel in non-covid times but I’m usually on the early crossings (6-6:30am) because of my proximity to the tunnel and you can often drive straight onto the train without stopping because it’s that quiet.
For the Eurotunnel I don’t think I’ve seen it quite that bad though, even passing on my way to Dover in summer periods. That aerial shot of port of Dover is standard. Sure there aren’t usually that quantity of lorries but it’s usually packed regardless.
Yeah I’ll agree that the quantity of lorries in that photo is not normal. It’s usually 70/30 with the cars the majority.
They usually limit vehicles going from the customs area (in that photo) through to the ticket booths when it’s busy. I’ve certainly experienced tailbacks to the tunnel near Hawkinge in summer, and it’s not uncommon at non-peak times to be backed up to the last roundabout on the M20 in Dover. Without knowing how busy it is further up the line I wouldn’t know what’s the cause here. Whatever the case, there’s pretty much never that many lorries at port of Dover. French customs was nearly always empty until about 2 years ago so we can all agree this is caused by Brexit.
Biggest problem at Dover (other than customs for cars) is if there’s road works. I can imagine early mornings being difficult with lorries (which is probably what your seeing as you go early I have to get from Devon or Somerset so don’t get there till about 16h00, I get early ferries from Calais which are very limited services and full of lorry drivers taking their breakfast washing themselves …).
As you say on occassion at the tunnel the taibacks for lorries can be long however there’s usually a reason communicated on the local or traffic radio that’s why I say it’s not ‘normal’ at most certain hours of certain days.
Some time since my last trip so just going on what I have experienced before, i have only once taken the tunnel but as it costed more than 3 times the ferry I never took it again (my brother suggested it as he does 1 week max trips to France and can get cheap tickets but they are not available for a 2 week familly visit/holiday).
