UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

So you are more likely to have been given a peerage since Johnson became PM than you are to have taken points off Liverpool at Anfield in the last 3 years.

There’s hope for my passive income plans yet then.

Boris, oh Boris. Over here bud

What’s the going rate for a peerage now, I wonder.

I bet Peter Cruddas will know. :astonished:

But didn’t St. Marcus solve all uk hunger?

Give him a chance…he might just get close to doing that…I read this morning that he’s moving his campaign now onto pushing the government to keep the benefit increase it made to Universal Credit this year because of Covid.

Calamity Patel’s days are numbered.

I don’t see how. She is part of the group that now seems to dominate much of the party thinking.

The Press and Starmer will get her soon enough; she will become untenable. She is already on 3 yellow cards, 1 red from Theresa May.

She must go, just like her senior medical advisor. :astonished:

The list of Covidiots among the Political elite just astounds me not at all.
Do as I say not as I do.
How many who demanded Cummings must go have broken the rules themselves.

The Scottish Sun has published a photo of Nicola Sturgeon standing talking to three people at a social distance, but with her face uncovered.

She was attending a wake after the funeral of a Scottish government civil servant who died with Covid.

Ms Sturgeon had been wearing a tartan mask and is said to have taken it off briefly as she was leaving the venue.
Let us not exaggerate the mistake here. Many politicians have done far worse Covid-related mistakes than this. This is very minor and the situation is mitigating.
Primarily, this is a The Sun shit-story, and that paper is seeking to blow it up over all proportions. Be wary of going along with that.

It is not exactly the same though, is it ? It is unfathomable to me that you compare it really.

My mistake,Cummings was found not to have broken the rules whereas Sturgeon definitely did and has admitted it.

Okay. I understand. Logic out of the window then. I thought you were a reasonable guy.

Cummings, who was among infected people, drove to his parents house during lockdown and had symptoms. This is, according to you, less bad than Sturgeon taking off her mask for a moment at a social distance. What absurdity !

Sturgeon had he mask off for longer than a moment and was in an enclosed space.
I think you missed my original point, which is they are all hypocrites ā€œdo as I say not as I doā€.
Nevermind.

was the Global Politics thread merged with this one or with some other threads? Saw it missing just…
