UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

I seem to recall there was some disgruntlement when Carden was parachuted into his Walton seat.

Also, last year didnt he get caught up in his own anti-semitism faux pas?

He does have potential but he also has to be very careful he doesn’t sideline himself.

There is/was never any proof to the allegations thrown out there by the tory journalists…
As any good judge would never pass judgment without asking for evidence… There will be a lot more bull-shit heading the way of any rising star in the Labour Party…

Can you guys suggest some decent newspapers etc. I generally follow BBC and Guardian-Observer for happenings in the UK.

Guido Fawkes.

Top notch.

For me, the FT is the pinnacle of objective reporting in the UK. It has excellent contributors and is pretty good at providing information clearly and without an obvious agenda.

After that you’re probably looking towards Channel 4 news, the Independent and the two you’ve already mentioned.

From an interaction the other day I realised there are posters on here who may from time to time take me seriously.

Need to nip that shit right in the bud.

I would recommend looking at

https://twitter.com/lewis_goodall

Lewis Goodall (BBC Newsnight reporter)

and

https://twitter.com/pmdfoster

Peter Foster. Brexit reporter formerly the Telegraph, now with Financial times.

Both give critical analysis and cut through a lot of the bullshit.

Are you saying that, on occasion, you take the piss? Get the fuck out of here!

FT is behind paywall
Independent??? Do you think they are objective??? Maybe it was an isolated incident, but I found some of their articles pretty biased. Still, will try again.

Don’t think Channel 4 has a web version.

Thanks.

Yes to Foster, very good. No to Goodall, formerly of Sky News, bloke’s a fame-hungry tool. Just my opinion!

That would be me. I take everyone seriously

@ISMF should I just follow the Twitter. It will have whole news and analysis???

Yes, I would recommend following on twitter as many of the contributors to the Financial Times as possible. Most of the coronavirus reporting on the FT is not paywalled (as far as I’m aware) and it’s very, very good. The other news items generally are paywalled but their contributors often tweet about the current affairs upon which they write articles anyway so there’s lots of really good information you can get from them directly through twitter.

Not sure why no sound came over with the clips shown above…
Lets hope it lands now… Well worth a listen

Ok so that didn’t work either…!! Maybe the Mods can come to the rescue…?

I think it is exactly the opposite. Starmer would have had no interest in picking this fight, particularly not at this time. But the Labour anti-semitism problem is an open wound that he absolutely must be able to put behind the party for them to have any hope for the next electoral cycle, and Momentum/Corbyn have refused to let that just happen.
