UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

I know. :sleepy: but I suspect we were free to do what we wanted there anyway, within reason of course. Including immigrants (Conveniently brushed under the carpet.)

This is in no small part a lame excuse about not being able to provide the infrastructure and resources needed to actually manage the borer in the first place. I mean it’s all come about as quite a shock and there’s not been any time to prepare.

I swear the likes of Mogg and most certainly Boris had zero idea what actually leaving meant. In Moggs case it was £ signs in the shape of tax breaks.

Also worth noting that if checks actually start, as they should , what will the impact on prices be I wonder? We obviously haven’t seen all of it yet. What I dont know is what the EU and or the withdrawal agreement says on this.

That’s the sort of excuse a fourteen year old would come up with. :joy:

Considering that article mentions that there were at least 2 occasions, then he must be really unlucky…

You’ve got the ‘mistake’ bit wrong, guys.

He was caught watching a teen gangbang when he was trying to watch mature amateurs.

Trying to look at farmyard porn apparently

Easy mistake to make, I do it all the time. I see ‘Sucy Lucy Chicky Massala’ and say to my kids ‘that must be tasty!’.
I click on it and have to tie dish cloths over the kids eyes (they are 25 and 26 years old btw).
Before I manage to blind fold my son he points out ‘you twat it says ‘Sucy Lucy cheeky massage’’.
By which time I’m so engrossed in it that I even play the video on the TV (so easy to do these days).
Poor man having to resign for such an easy mistake.

I sympathise. As a member of the Corn society I often mistype things when trying to visit our Hub of Corn associates across the world.

 Deffo with that tie

Neil Parish has told the BBC he is resigning as an MP after admitting he watched pornography twice in Parliament.

Mr Parish, who has represented Tiverton and Honiton in Devon since 2010, said it had been a “moment of madness”.

He said the first time was accidental after looking at a tractor website, but the second time - in the House of Commons - was deliberate.

Ukrainian tractor porn

The above article caught my eye recently for no other reason that that is near where I grew up in the 80s. That general area of Birmingham had been pretty solidly Labour for as long as I remember and accordingly my parents always voted Labour. During the 80s, it was a mix of run down areas, some crime ridden but with communities willing to graft and work hard. It feels as if this is still the case - which is shocking and sad in equal measure.

I’m quite curious which way the pendulum will swing this time round. Currently it is painted as there is no BREXIT, no general issues with immigrants and the whole partygate thing is a minor discretion that even the much vaunted nurses and other care-workers were indulging in. Yes there is raging energy prices but that can be conveniently brushed under a COVID/Ukrainian mat if the Conservatives play it right. The Conservative are positioned as a party that is dealing with issues and to a large extent, Labour are (still) left looking for an angle that differentiates them from the “but we are not Conservatives” angle.

The turnout in 2017 was 60 odd percent (Labour hold) and 50 odd percent in 2019 (Conservative gain). It seems there was a portion of voters that did not care to vote - will that persist? The report seems to suggest that people are still looking for someone to vote for, possibly someone other than the Conservative Party, but there doesn’t seem to be anyone sticking their head above the parapet.

From the article below

The calls for change come amid reports that more than 50 MPs are facing allegations of sexual misconduct.

WTAF!! 50??!! Holy crap. That’s systemic at the very least. We dont need changes, we need a purge and a full reset on what politicians are, do and work in the UK.

Yep, I’ve been saying this for ages.

Interesting. I knew West Bromwich from the late '60’s to early '80’s and I believe it was a seat that had potential to swing. (or at least a lot closer than what that article pretends then I suppose my ‘knowledge’ is too old) Then in the late nineties early 2000’s it became pretty solid Labour. My grandparents had moved well before that time so I lost touch.

More believable if the said MP was willing to come out instead of all this cloak-and-dagger shit.

I started to read the article honestly wondering would that be something she would do. Then I got to this passage.

The Mail on Sunday’s story, published on 24 April, quoted an unnamed Conservative MP saying: "[Ms Rayner] knows she can’t compete with Boris’s Oxford Union debating training…

I spat my brew all over the screen while laughing.

It’s not a plot twist though, is it?

It’s an unnamed Conservative source leaping to the defence of the Prime Minister by repeating the same bullshit allegation.

The Tories are just utter scum.
