You’re ignoring the fact that no one seriously thought “developments in technologies” going forward was in any way feasible in managing the border.
For entirely political reasons.
Because the entire problem it’s trying to solve is one that is imposed on it by the choices of the British government. It goes back to Theresa May’s “red lines” at Chequers, and continued on by the utter stupidity that is the current British government.
The red lines (Lancaster House) speech was entirely in response to the EU breaking its own treaty obligations by saying that it wouldn’t discuss the future framework with the UK until it had agreed on the ‘divorce’ settlement.
What the UK should have done at that point was to stop all discussions and refer the matter to the CJEU (although there are difficulties with that) - but then the EU was desperately trying to put the UK ‘on the clock’. A time limit that didn’t exist until Selmayr slipped it in there in a deliberate attempt to make it harder to leave.
Not quite. Lets not forget this was purely about Johnson wanting to get into No. 10. He then had to deliver on that promise without any intention of ever keeping to the agreement.
The EU weren’t blind to this and you cant blame them for reacting to it.
It’s a pointless article. Johnson is going nowhere. Conservatives have no backbone and as soon as Partygate was out of the news I can guarantee all the Conservatives withdrew their no-confidence vote. This Jubilee thing came at a great time for them.
There really is very very little difference between the Conservatives and the GOP in the US.
Yeah , I was probably giving him a bit too much credit. Self-awareness really isn’t his thing at all. Maybe the rest of those cowards in the Tory Party who enable him might think again however. Can they still convince themselves that this buffoon is a vote winner after this ?
