UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

‘Far left’ is in vogue? On here? You mean as in constantly talking about what gigantic idiots they are?

How many of us where on the forum back in 2010, or earlier? I certainly wasn’t in the politics thread at that time despite being a member of the site.

From what i remember there were also similar claims against other Labour Ministers too such as David Blunkett.

I can’t wait to see @DioufGates reaction at being told I and several others he disagrees with so vehemently are also far left!

No I meant largely across the Western media, inclusivity, late stage feminism, equality of outcome, race and religious integration these are the ‘fresh’ political issues - that purport to be progress - all of which are to me far left.

I agree here and a lot of it is still from the Blair/Campbell type of media spin etc…it’s left a toxicity in politics which even now has festered and gotten worse, the Tory press went into overdrive on Corbyn to stifle Labour, and now that they have a more centralist clone of Blair in power of the labour party they now turn to fan the flames of what the Tories do best …which is infighting ,next couple of months should be interesting

Not crying and I do stand by my beliefs, just don’t label me when you know nothing of my political beliefs

You, like I are here because we support a multi million pound capitalistic monster. Tell me about our beloved club’s socialist history and I’ll show you a club that pays many people £100k+ per week.

No idea what late stage feminism is tbh, don’t have a problem with inclusivity or with whatever you mean by race and religious integration (do we want more seperatism instead?).
In the US people are called ‘radical left’ that on many of the issues would be considered in line with conservative Christian Democrat chancellor Merkel in Germany, so I guess it’s all a matter of perspective.

If you disagree with somebody these days, you must be an ist or a phobe

Yeah but some people you need to explain things to in some way, I don’t know who he is, but some here may remember some of the debates in TIA and one person I always stated my admiration for was John Smith, if he had not died when he did, the Labour party we have now would not exist, there would never had been a new labour which is nothing more than a rebranded version to appeal to floating Tories etc, John Smith was a giant of a socialist a man not so much in the shadows of Kinnock ,but a man who showed loyalty to the leader, when Kinnock left and Smith took over he shone in opposition and it’s one of the saddest days in labours history that they had a political giant taken so early, he could have built a fairer and just country, he had intelligence, wit humour and compassion…what use to be the soul of the labour party, and sadly that has been missing for a long time, Tories never change, sadly labour changed to much for many to ever be considered the working man’s party

He was the future PM, an immensely sharp witted and intelligent man. A huge loss. His videos on Youtube are still a joy to watch.

I think there’s some bullying going on here. Might have to demand an enquiry.

The wit is truly astounding - if only we could have made out a conspiracy theory back then. A part of him could still live. I remember laying eyes on him first on TV news and said immediately, he will be the next PM.
