UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

That depends on what happens 1 January 2021 onwards doesn’t it? Having it now is no guarantee that there won’t be issues in the new year where a deal not to be agreed (Although i believe the EU would in such a case work out a way to support the transportation of it )

yes, there are also a number of others in production too

We’ve already got the orders in place. I imagine the doses will all be delivered by the end of December (unless there’s a shelf life after production, regardless of storage?). If not I can’t imagine it will be especially problematic.

The orders are in place but I don’t think they will all be in place for delivery by the end of December as Hancock or one of the other Ministers said only a day or two ago that we would be using the RAF to bring them in if there was no deal.

Also, like the PPE fiasco, I think the doses that have been ordered will only treat half the number of people first expected because treatment requires 2 doses ( I think that is the case for Pfizer too isnt it?)

Yes, I think all the vaccines currently in the pipeline require two doses for efficacy. I imagine the government will aim to vaccinate as many people as possible, using two or three different types of vaccine if necessary. Not mixing them on an individual level, just in terms of roll out as and when they are approved.

Wonder whether its worth a poll, but Im not rushing to get this into my system. It just seems too quickly formulated and untested, and there have been disastrous consequences in the past, not so much with vaccines per se, but thinking about thalidomide and the travesty that went on there.

Oddly, at the back of my mind I was thinking…fuck, that’s awfully risky giving it to a 90yr old first up. What if she dies?

Then I started thinking…fuck…that would potentially kill off the Pfizer vaccine placing the (British) AstraZeneca one suddenly into pole position…

My Dad’s very same words not 5 minutes ago!

I wouldnt rule it out either but would be lambasted for tin-foil-hat reasoning and Ive tried really hard to keep that from the forum, even if Im known as a nomad. I just dont trust them mate. I think our profession worsened this feeling.

Alex Jones could have a double life in comedy; his interview with Joe Rogan from a few years back is literally one of the funniest things Ive ever seen. Howling.

You can see the headlines already. Friday, Pfizer vaccine kills 90yr old granny. Saturday, Pfizer vaccine kills William Shakespeare.

There’s no coming back from that if you’re Pfizer.

And we’ve got a lot of cunts running things. Cummings hasn’t gone yet.

Going by this governments previous record I can well see January 1st creating havoc in the vaccine delivery. That on top of the other difficulties getting Tory donors to start up their refrigerated lorry businesses.

basically I am still waiting and pretty much expect the cluster fuck to happen.

Wouldn’t touch that one with a pole no matter what the options are in the poll

The Johnson & Johnson/Janssen one is only a week or two behind Astra-Zeneca, they have not yet begun the authorization step.

The Chinese are also using the SinoVac one developed in collaboration with Canada - there is increasing evidence that they skipped Phase 3 trials and used it on their military, but with positive results.
