UK Politics Thread (Part 5)

Why should I give it a rest?
Because you have told me to?
Look you are entitled to your opinion, I am not going to pretend I have not met the threshold to some of your concerns. Yes, I have at times been guilty of the points you raise but if you are going to call me out, at least provide some balance.

I don’t see how I have posted in bad faith.

Your post didn’t make a point or reference your opinion.
I started my sentence by saying it was an interesting graph and that it could be interpreted in different ways depending on political view.
I then followed up by saying that I think we both agree that immigration is important. I then left the site because of work and managed to send an incomplete post accidentally.
As I said Reform could use it to suggest Brexit has been a success, reduced immigration etc. what the Graph doesn’t show is the skill set of people leaving/entering the country. For me, this is more important.
Brexit ran with a reference to only letting skilled people into the Country. The Graph you linked shows Net Immigration reducing which Pro- Brexit supporters may claim as a win. However, if reducing Net immigration has been at the expense of skilled workers, leaving the country out of dissatisfaction then Remainers could argue that the reduction win has actually been a loss to the Country.

Would you concur?

Due to popular demand.

So to clarify I didn’t imply anything.

I believe this part of the article is what answers your question.

ā€˜The latest graduate labour market statistics, published in June, external, suggest 88% of working-age graduates in England were in employment in 2024. The figure for non-graduates was 68%.’

So, are we done here? Are you satisfied that I have answered your question?
Do you agree that the Article actually supported the point you were trying to make and actually provided some statistics? Something you failed to do.
I mean you could have read the article yourself and saved us both time, you could have used it to support your debate with @Liverdinner.
I suppose it was easier to take offence/feel challenged and create a false narrative from my post.

Lol thanks

This is where you fail, again.
I posted that as evidence of what is happening with immigration into the UK. There is no political bias in it. It is literally posting numbers. You’ll note I didn’t comment on the chart. It is a record of what is happening. The projection in the chart is neither here nor there for me. It made a headline I guess. So when I ask how political bias can interpret the fact that immigration is falling differently I’m honestly confused.

I have previously stated that a government could stop regular immigration at any time if they wanted to. It appears this government is seeking a more balanced approach to overall immigration whereas the previous one increased it dramatically. If you have the patience you’ll find a post from me in the distant past saying this was a choice. Here it is in numbers.

Now I’m sure if Farage or Lowe were to become PM tomorrow the numbers would follow a similar trend. Again, it’s a choice made by them. I’ll leave their reasons for that for another day.

Never said you did. I literally don’t understand how political bias can interpret the figures differently. Immigration has fallen. That’s literally it.

You can’t infer that at all as it rise sharply post Brexit. I’ll say it again. It was policy.

I haven’t gone there. It’s there to show that a government, any UK government can control the numbers of immigrants. That’s it.

Just with this whole shenanigans of Farage’s money ā€œresting in his accountā€ā€¦

Are HMRC interested in this at all?

Crypto is now subject to capital gains if you cash it in. Maybe it’s held in a wallet. Crypto whales aren’t selling at the moment.

And if it was simply a ā€œgiftā€ with no capital gains?

If he was gifted it in crypto, he wouldn’t be liable for capital gains until he cashed it in.

Didn’t get buy a house worth Ā£1.8m just after receiving the gift?

Anyway in other news

Can’t stand Goodall but I quite enjoyed this interview.

And lest arseholes like @Limiescouse accuse me of posting things without justification…the ever-upward torrent of wealth = very bad.
