The important part of that Posobiec tweet isn’t even the projection of propaganda - it’s the support for the execution of public officials.

Common sense has long ago departed from these idiots. The weird, the cruel, the callous and the absurd is the name of the game for them.

It’s terrifying to think how many of them there are.

Oh it can be done. They tried for many years with various methods. Small nukes were quite effective. They don’t because they proved they could do little without causing more damage. Hang on: Weather modification - Wikipedia

Chem trail claimers are nutters though.

Decent analysis here.

The guest is pretty scathing of Harris’ strategy, but still has her in the box seat.

Right, this isnt true, but a lot of people believe it so we have to respect them and their heads in their arses view by treating it as if it were true

With the knowledge of hindsight what is the single biggest mistake of each party’s campaign?

Reps - agreeing to debate Biden too soon, thereby giving Dems just enough time to switch.
Dems - not replacing Biden sooner, thereby shortening the Harris campaign.

Most of the time, campaign decisions that seem decisive are only so because of how they interact with a bigger story. To that degree, successful campaigns are often the ones that in the macro have the narrative they want be defined early that then colours every micro event and decision that occurs in the campaign. For example, Clinton did not lose because of focus of on her email practices. She lost because she was already framed as someone for who intense coverage of her email practices meant she was probably doing shady stuff because that’s what we’ve known her to be like for over 20 years. So for me, it’s about decisions the parties took that helped set bit bigger narratives.

GOP - not impeaching Trump on the second impeachment

Dems 1a - Spending too long pretending there was a meaningful difference between Trump and the GOP instead of hanging Trump around the entire party’s neck

Dems 1b - believing in the theory of “deliveryism” - the idea that doing good things is sufficient to have a popular administration. The Biden admin’s lack of any of sort of robust defense of their record for the first 3 years means any Dem campaign was facing negative perceptions of the economy, of public safety, and of their efforts to support working people when the record was as strong a one on those factors to run on as we’ve seen in generations.

I am not so sure about that. Harris a year ago doesn’t look like a compelling candidate. If Biden had announced in November 2023 he would not seek a new term, and Harris had proceeded through the normal primary process, she might have the same ‘establishment candidate’ baggage that Hillary Clinton had. I would not have guessed she would see such a surge in popularity this summer.

Agreed. It is also based on a false premise that “the Dems” had agency in the situation. That is just not how modern parties work and the resistance to accepting we are no longer in the 60s era of centralized party leaders choosing the candidates is something I struggle to understand.

Biden was the presumptive nominee for so long because individuals, not the party, made decisions to not run against him and that left the party without a mechanism to do anything about it. Ultimately Biden removed himself and that is not a nitpicky difference in the context of questioning what the parties/campaigns should have done differently.

In the alternate universe where Biden agreed from the get to to not run again, Harris is not prioritized as the replacement the way she was under these circumstances. A fierce primary contest would have been required that may have ended up with the unity and enthusiasm the party has now, but I doubt it. And it probably would not have been Harris who came through that.
