Think Musk has a similar cult of personality. Or at least it seems like that online anyway.
Thankfully for America, he wasn’t born a citizen. Not that he has to be president to maximize damage.
Oh ye of little faith.
The actual power brokers have no power in the face of the fact that the people who actually subscribe to genuinely politically conservative views (not reactionary views) just aren’t that large a constituency.
To be honest, @Nobluff did make a powerful point, just not the one they think they were making…
Cult of personality just without the personality. Its effect drops off very quickly when he does public appearances because he is a little weirdo. Trump is and always has been a showman, even when he was pretending to be a businessman. I would put Musk closer to the DeSantis bucket…
Still very popular among the libertarian bros though isn’t he?
Never thought I’d say this, but that’s harsh on Musk. At least people outside Florida like him.
You spelt “lack” wrong.
This 1000 times.
There was a fantastic book written at some point in the Trump presidency by one of those nerdy Paul Ryan type conservatives thinkers about him coming to terms with the reality that it was always a lie that the movement conservatism he’d devoted his career to was about what Conservative think tanks say it is. The ideas of Paul Ryan and his ilk were always the thing that “conservative” voters accepted as part of the bargain of voting in a party that genuinely lived Wilhoit’s Law
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
And that is less about small vs big government, and more about who the government protects and who it targets for sanctions
it was always a lie that the movement conservatism he’d devoted his career to was about what Conservative think tanks say it is.
Nixon and Reagan didn’t already show him that?
I think the last person I’ve read about who could actually be described as a principled right-winger was probably Goldwater.

I had not heard that it was the Arnold Palmer story, but a contact who was at the G7 Charlevoix summit told me that Trump said some shockingly vulgar things to some of the other leaders.
I have said weeks ago, the Harris campaign should stick to policies and try to distance themselves from Biden, rather than focus on Trump. Trump has been impervious to mud slinging, misquotes, lies or uncomfortable truths. I guess the Harris strategy is to double down on the double down of the double down.
The world seems to be spinning off its axis…
Kamala might be the strong, no-nonsense, pragmatic, and calming influence it needs, to slow it back down

That is the “sound of desperation” tbf
I never understand this. Just because he says strange shit, they need to do strange shit? He is a master of strange shit, dont try one up him, just ignore and focus on your strengths. Obama, Harris, Walz, etc, should all be charging Trump rent.

That’s what I don’t think you understand. He has always been like this. He will drag you into the gutter and you will be outmatched.
In light of the Kelly tape, even Sununu isn’t defending him against the Fascist accusations anymore, something he was still doing vigorously last week. Now we’re on to "yeah, and? "
