US Election 2024

Sherrod Brown is gone. If it wasn’t settled before, that is now a senate GOP majority.

I admire that this guy has still hope

I’m getting more Karl Rove 2012 vibes tbh, just with the parties flipped

Well the base messaging hasn’t worked. I am her base and I’ve not heard the things I wanted to hear. All these pre-convention ideas about lower childcare costs etc disappeared from the public stage and instead we got “look Liz Cheney is voting for me!!!” As though anyone wants to know what a Cheney thinks.

And you may say that she was still saying these things, maybe she was, but that message wasn’t reaching the public.

I already made the decision that were he to prevail then I will completely disassociate myself from politics. I no longer want to hear about Ukraine being subsumed , Gaza and Lebanon being erased from the map , Taiwan in peril , the demise of NATO and the rise and retribution of populists.

I am going to put all my time and energy into making sure my own family and my physical and mental health come first. The rest is simply too much to countenance.

Yeah, really weak numbers.
Infuriating and painful. This is a true disaster. A new epoch of global emergency is coming. Russia will now force a painful strategic defeat for Ukraine. Russia will be revitalised, it’s belief in empire further cemented, which will lead to the next war.

These Pro-Palestinians who refused to vote is likely to find that it will become a lot of worse. Trump will not only support Israel, but Netanyahu.

Confrontation with China much more likely, but probably still relatively low probability. Bombing of Iran’s nuclear program together with israel I deem likely.

US civil society, already gravely wounded and ultra polarisedd socially; mortally wounded and set back decades.

Fuckign scary.

For PA, it makes sense. In 2020, Trump was up about 250k with much of Greater Philadelphia uncounted when he started the ‘stop the count’ nonsense.

It was meant to be scary.

Didn’t help that Biden took so long to decide that he was not going to be ready for the contest vs Trump.

Harris was made the candidate only because she had access to the Biden reelection funds. At that point , it was a desperation move by the democrats. She wouldn’t have gotten the ticket on her own.

Plus a female , half black-half indian isn’t going to cut it. This was my biggest fear. If Hillary couldn’t win in 2016 , what chance did Kamala have ?

This entire election is a self inflicted disaster by the democrats.

In any other country , Trump would have been found guilty of insurrection and been in Jail and ineligible to contest the elections after his actions on Jan 6th.

Have they refused to vote? I live in Birmingham, UK, which has a high Muslim population. Their support for Gaza, almost lost Labour a few seats, irrelevant of what Government got voted in.

If you didn’t hear it you didn’t hear it. But the fundamental problem with all Dem campaigns is what they talk about does not drive what the conversation around the campaign is. Mainstream press is only talks about what republicans want to talk about and lots spaces on the left only focus on perceived negatives of their own allies.

I agree with you. But it’s the Latino vote that I find surprising.

Nonetheless, the Dems need to stop pretending to be Republicans by the time the next election rolls around, which may be never. Or a third party needs to emerge. This messaging was neither here nor there.

Latinos are more culturally conservative than most Americans. Ideal ground for Republicans to fight on ‘family values’ issues.

“Family values” as in “your dad is gone and we don’t know where. Complain and you’ll be next.”

Muslims in Michigan are voting more for Trump than for Harris. Thats surprising AF given Trump’s attitude on Israel / Palestine

It was ideal ground last election too.

She’s underperforming Biden’s 2020 numbers almost everywhere in PA.
At some point you can also identify a nationwide trend.

It is somewhat appalling that four years on, Wayne County still is painfully slow at counting votes. Just 16% reported for the biggest population center in the state of Michigan.

I doubt she’ll even get the popular vote.
