US Election 2024

So, the majority of Americans are only interested in how full their wallets are, that their borders are closed, and that all illegal aliens disappear. They don’t give a damn about anything else, like education, climate, health, the rest of the world, and to achieve that, they happily vote a senile old, convicted criminal into office. Did I forget something?

Well, I hope for everyone over there only the best but it scares me a lot tbh

I think she might have been picking up on something in Des Moines and Iowa City, but not generalized. Turnout looks like it will be lower. Comparing to 2020, the Democrats have actually lost two urban counties they won in 2024, Story and Scott. Both tending toward middle American suburbia, probably not much different from some of the others in the swing states where Harris is winning, but down 5-10 points from Biden.

Seriously…

Who is gonna work for him?

Literally anyone with talent who isn’t a total cunt will run a mile.

And SCOTUS?

I think this is a watershed, after which Europe really has to chart its own course. NATO would appear to be a spent force, the EU will need to be able to stand on its own against regional threats, most notably Russia.

Republican president with a republican senate and a likely republican house.

Stuff of nightmares

There’s still the Supreme Cou…Oh wait…

In a country where somewhere around 63 million people voted for him, this is probably not much of an impediment

That’s my poorly worded point.

That’s the truly scary part, imo.

Still early in that count, but GOP had the House and have the only gains on the night so far (3 seats)

I understand intellectually, but not emotionally. This is awful. We are fucked. And so are Americans…

at 230 -210 surely its far from over?

most people seemed to be calling it over

Would this not be considered a result for Trump. One of his original arguments from his first campaign is that the countries in NATO were not meeting the agreed defence budget to GDP. Sadly, it took Russia invading Ukraine before Countries like Germany upped their spending and this was reluctant.

Unless there’s a huge bunch of votes coming in from the urban areas that are massively pro Harris. It’s over.

We don’t have any money, we have “Schuldenbremse”.

It is a question of where the remaining 40 (or 60) EC votes are. By some counts, Trump is at 246 and just winning PA (where he leads) gets him almost all the way there. The lead has to turn around in all three major battleground states for Harris to win.

Keep in mind that Trump has persistently suggested that the NATO allies should be paying the US, so it is not quite clear what Trump would define a win as. But an EU which doesn’t trust NATO/USA is going to spend money very differently on defence. Just for an example, the F-35 now seems like folly. The relationship with China may become equally important Europe sees Russia as a threat that America doesn’t care about.

Which are the three major battlegrounds - Pennsylvania, Michigan, and where?

Explain like it’s Istanbul.
