US Election 2024

Wisconsin. Arizona is also in play, but the ‘blue wall’ was those three.

Even if she wins PA with some votes, they would demand a recount and all that, right?

Of course, but I don’t think there are enough votes out there to make up a 220k lead. They would have to split rather more aggressively in Harris’ favour than is likely, unless there are a lot in Philly with that 78% split

edit: just saw above, so …maybe? The games begin tomorrow…

Similar story in Michigan. Could swing it once Wayne County is completely done, but seems unlikely - particular if that earlier report about Dearborn is accurate.

Overall, it looks like there were some Biden voters that just didn’t show up. To take Iowa as an example, Trump will probably not reach his 2020 vote numbers but Harris is missing about 100k Biden voters. Minnesota is closer than 2020, but Trump doesn’t look like he will match his 2020 totals.

Let’s see if Nevada can flip so that we have a state-based replica of the 2016 election.

In 2016, there was at least a Republican establishment that was able to prevent the worst from happening for a while.

This time, it will be a government of MAGA loyalists, Project 2025 fanatics. We don’t even have the slightest idea what’s coming.

Edit
From#CNN: This morning people woke up with a dream of freedom and opportunity and went to bed with a nightmare.

Trump has at this time essentially got PA, so pretty much game over.

Lower % of votes counted in Michigan, but I don’t think that is a lead that will fall to the Wayne County mail-in ballots.

reuters has called it…

What did they call?

Ultimately this is what the US is. Take them at face value.

A cesspit of divisive vitriol?

I’m glad I don’t live there, although this country is sadly heading the same way.

While I do feel for my family and friends there (and our fellow Reds)…by and large they should be okay.

You’re not wrong there. The whole world with all the conflicts, climate issues, feels bleak but sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

I’m not sure that women, people of colour and other minorities will be.

I don’t see that on their website, which is why I asked.

EDIT: They’re now showing that Fox News has called it, which isn’t the same thing.

This is not only a black day for America, but a black day for mankind.

The majority of American voters have showed the world that they want Donald Trump. Republicans also winning in senate.

They know who Trump is, but they still voted for him. Most likely the majority.

I don’t think the necessary revamping of the democrats party with their idiotic superdelegates etc will be enough now.

It is. It really is.

Another triumph for 45 years of neoliberal dumbing down.
