I’m not sure they can do that, short of just a self-coup.
It’s enshrined in a constitutional amendment, which has a massive barrier to overcome.

I’ve been ruminating a lot on why apolitical spaces have become so right coded, which then leads quickly to what you are talking about. I think it is because that is what has become counter culture over the last decade or so and that sort of vibe is an obvious driver for what is interesting and entertaining in new media.
Young men are always attracted to subversiveness, and for us that might have meant internalizing the arguments made in RATM lyrics or chiding our parents at their old timey bigoted views. It was all left coded. Today though it appears to be more focused on a reaction to the success of those social advances. It presents as playing Fortnite online and laughing at someone in your group using the R word. Factoring in what counts as entertainment to under 30s today that path from gaming discord groups to Rogan, to the bigger community of self-identified independent “heterodox” podcasters who are brave enough to question whether equality is fair is pretty easy to track. In no time at all a man in his mid twenties is motivated to vote against the Dems because of their insistence that masculinity is toxic despite that being a phrase that was never once mentioned on the Harris campaign trail.
Do I want to know what that is?
Perhaps one best suited for another thread, but I never quite understood that. Masculinity isn’t a problem, toxic masculinity is, and it isn’t a problem just for the people around a boy/man. It’s a problem for themselves too. It’s quite a big reason for why men are more likely to commit suicide, for example.
Though, we know that most people concerned about “men’s issues” aren’t concerned about men. They’re concerned about women getting ideas above their stations.
This is quaint to think that the rules as they exist today will apply to an administration that has openly promised to run rough shot over the rules and has a court that has showed it will support them. The bigger risk though is Trump has also tipped his hat at the Andrew Jacksonian threat of challenging the court to enforce any ruling that goes against him. For all the power the court has, it only has it because administrations have abided by it. It is not a bet I would want to take that the court wins a stand off against the Trump administration.
But this is admittedly a fairly extreme outcome on the continuum of what may happen. The bigger question is that the damage that can be done to government and the areas where effective government impact our society and well being could be so huge that it would take a generation to recover from even if we get these fuckers out after just 1 term.
But this is admittedly a fairly extreme outcome on the continuum of what may happen.
But that is my point. It’s not so much that it couldn’t happen, it’s just that it would be fairly extreme.
Do I want to know what that is?
Retard. Once you notice it is back in vogue you wont stop seeing it. It is solely as an outburst of youthful rejection of Gen X/Millennial era social norms

Oh, I didn’t even notice it ever went away.
Ooofff, Future Forward, one of the biggest pro Harris’ super PACs, has an analysis showing that Trump ad portraying Charlamane tha God supposedly criticizing her over her position on trans rights was their most effective, causing a massive 3 point movement towards Trump. The ad, unsurprisingly, was bullshit and led to CtG filing a cease and desist with the Trump team over it
Trans issues really appear to have been Willie Horton 2024
Doesn’t surprise me. Struggle to think of an issue that has an impact on so few people, but radicalises so many. Not just in the US. It is, unfortunately, a total losing position for any left/progressive parties.
Sport was the great multiplier to give the issue reach. Funny thing is I don’t ever recall a Republican man giving a shit about women’s amateur sport back when I lived there.

There is a good white woman in the WNBA now so that has given them an opportunity to laud it over uppity black women…sorry, I mean support women’s athletics.
Just a Feel Good message from the ideologue of Russian Imperialism and an arch fascist of the very old school:
Just in case you were for some reason too positive, or falling for one of those naive idiotic “it won’t really be that bad” takes (which I have noticed is a drug that many suddenly went for).
This is going to be way worse than in your nightmare…
This is going to be way worse than in your nightmare…
It really is. On every level. In a way so extensive that people are not going to be able to keep up and the natural reaction is to just turn off from it.
This is going to be way worse than in your nightmare…
I find myself wondering if Netanyahu waits until after Inauguration, or decides to unleash earlier as a ‘fuck you’ to Biden.
Isnt that what the Galant move was?
I think now with the Trump win, annexation of parts of the West Bank is on the cards and that it will be permanent.
Perhaps as a concession to Netanyahu to wind down military operations in Gaza in early 2025.
I find most of this quite sound and logical:

No, I think that was setting the table. You have to wonder what Galant was objecting to
But they’ll tell you they knew what they were voting for…
