Virgil VAN DIJK: 2020/21

But confirmed only on beIN?

Peacock said acl.

You can walk with a torn ACL, which is the worse injury of the two.

Personal experience.

NBC saying unconfirmed ACL 7-8 months. Not sure why they’re reporting it if they don’t know.

Lowe saying confirmed. Ruptured.

The differing reports give me some hope it is not worst case scenario.

Quite. An isolated PCL tear is quite rare, but if that is what it is then there is no way it is an 8 months thing. It wouldn’t be wise, but a lad of Virgil’s size and strength probably could play next week if that is all it is.

But the concern here is the way the knee torqued and the fact it had pickford’s entire weight on it. If it is anything less than 7-8 months then we’ll have been really lucky

Fucking sick of Everton, each time we play them we risk half the team getting injured. Referee should be doing the utmost to protect the player but they just disregard these reckless challenges. Not only has VVD get taken out but we also have Thiago hurt, studs up, going through the player. 2 of them, both due to a shit ref being weak from the start.

Probably inflated anyway

I’ve ruptured my ACL a few years ago. Could not walk like Virg was able to today. Had surgery.

Where?

Can’t find any new info.

Everyone is quoting BeIN sports including DaveOCKop etc. regarding the 7 month thing. How do they know which is so accurate that everyone else is referring the same?

I would not put any stock in the fact he walked off. It is not unusual at all for a professional athlete of Virgil’s strength and muscularity to be able to walk it off initially before the swelling kicks in.

Hopefully it’s not too bad. But the need for another centre back just increases. Let’s see what the club does in January if he is indeed out for a few months or more. Need to sign someone of genuine quality.

The way Everton go at us in recent years is beyond a grudge derby match it distinctly looks like their is a common purpose to harm or inflict injury; too many players diving and lunging in to be ‘coincidence’. FA need to take note rather than designing a visual App for VAR offsides. Will they, Nah.

NOT a red card though

New PL slogan

“No need for accuracy and consistency”

believe it or not i’m not a doctor, but an ACL tear is a worse injury than some leg fractures, and ‘leg-breaker’ is the parlance for outrageously dangerous challenges like pickford’s

hopefully, i’m just a negative bastard not to expect retro action from the FA or EPL or whoever

The ACL reports seem dubious to me. Very rare within 8 hours? I agree it’s likely extensive damage, but with medical privacy laws being what they are, I would be stunned if this was “officially reported” already.
