Virgil VAN DIJK: 2020/21

Retrospectively banning Pickford would only benefit Everton.

Usually we wait 2 days until something gets announced officially.

Surely a three man committee is required on every VAR game to analysis and adjudge every contentious decision… this may go some way to eliminate bias or incompetence by a single individual who may after all said and done… could be best buddies with the ref on the pitch and be scared to discommode him.
A mixture of retired referee’s or ex-managers would surely be better qualified to call things as they are seen… from a common sense interpretation of the inflexible rules for starters…!
It is crazy to allow animals like Pickford to get away with his feet first lunges against any player, worse still when that player is so instrumental in the opposition on the day. He is a goalkeeper after all said and done… he can use his arms in the box… smothering tactics on the ball…
He lunged in that manner because he panicked and knew he could not get hurt himself in the assault… maybe with his short arms… this has limited his options…!
This needs retrospective action taken against him and LFC need to push for exactly that…!!

Can they ban every back up keeper they have instead?

If he is out for most part of the season he might never get back to his best.

That’s the harsh truth.

This is a good point. If it’s completely ruptured you can be pretty confident of that even without imaging, but you’re not going to be able to see much on the images until a the swelling has gone down which wont happen for 48 hours or so.

Might but van Nistelrooy had the same injury got an operations out for 8 months and went on scoring a shitload go goals for Real Madrid and United.

Fingers crossed.

Virgil covers a lot of ground and pace is a big part of his game. For as good as Ruud was, neither of those things were true for him even before the injury.

Sorry that I am such an pessimistic asshole but do you have some other positive examples which happened earlier than 15 years ago?

If the PCL/ACL reports are true he will be almost 30 before he returns to the pitch. He is 1,93m, 93kg.

Dont think he will be as fast as before. Don’t think he will be as mobile / dynamic as before. Don’t think he will be as injury free as before.

New Premier League slogan

ā€˜Fuck Liverpool Football Club’

New? That’s been their slogan since day one.

But we won’t resurrect the old conspiracy thread. :smirk:

Well I don’t know. It’s not the same situation but it does not have to be as bad as you make it sound it can be but he can still have 4 or 5 good years in him we just have to wait and see.

It’s shite but we simply have to cope with it.

Untill 3 weeks ago I thought we were the hot favorites to win the PL again, after today it will be a lot harder.

Could you please just stop for a while until we know more?

Thanks

So Mongolian 1st division?

It’s immaterial now whether Pickford receives a retrospective ban, because he’s shit! Their reserve keeper is probably better than him anyway. The point is he should’ve been sent off today

Oh well, he may as well take early retirement now then!

This is so sad.

Even if the Club has the full diagnosis already they won’t announce anything until they decide if he needs surgery or not. And for that they probably will ask one or two more doctors before making a final decision.

Someone needs to put Ancelotti and maybe even Kenwright under the spotlight for the many acts of ill-discipline in that Everton team today… Makes you question exactly what is being coached to these players behind the scenes at Finch Farm… and by whom…!
Whilst the odd player can sometimes lose their cool and discipline here and there… It was too much of a concerted effort today for them to resort to the sunday league alehouse tactics of days gone by… Even Andre Gomes was losing his cool and looked intent on lashing out… with what happened to his ankle recently makes you wonder if it is not coaching… but more like a programme of brainwashing to their players and subjecting them to the theme of ā€˜It is a derby, anything goes’…!

When Pickford eventually retires from the game, with no fucking medals, he’ll be able to tell his children that he did his best to finish the career of the best central defender in the world. Won’t they be so proud? What a wonderful legacy.
