War in Iran : Trump's latest misadventure

Needless to say , it would be a disaster for Pakistan in the long run but when have Pakistani rulers ever taken their population’s needs.

I dare say it was their endgame.

I’ve no doubt that his administration was in the know. But Trump himself? I doubt he gets in all the info. There is too much evidence now that he is a senile old fucker.

Anyway, one way or the other, it doesn’t make any difference. He’s not only becoming senile, he’s also a consummate liar. It’s difficult to make the difference nowadays with all his incoherent ramblings.

It cost me an extra £5 to fill up the car yesterday, thanks Donald!

On a less me, me, me! note - That sort of thing has to be filtering through to his support base now surely?

My take on Trump knowing or not is that he was probably briefed and probably made the decision. So in the most straightforward sense he was in the know.

But now the problem.

At his best he is a stupid and ignorant man. So even if he knows, he doesn’t know, because he has no grasp of what he is really deciding about, much less the repercussions of his decisions.

Now add the important fact that Trump is way past his best, in terms of health, and in particular, mental aptitude.

We have a situation where the world’s most powerful man is one of the most vile of people, on all manner of levels. Added to that, he has no grasp of the world, and how it works, given the job he has. It really is playground stuff in his mind. And finally, it was not a fine mind to begin with, but we are at the stage where there’s not much of it left, and he is being propped up and juiced up to suit malevolent actors around him.

Q: "Why didn't you tell U.S. allies…about the war before attacking Iran?"

It is just diplomatic language that they agree something needs to be done but can not decide what to do. Appropriate umming and arrhing.

Would this mean it’s great for a submarine?

I think that’s part of the point that @Arminius was making, that the US is relatively insulated from the conflict in terms of oil prices?

It is somewhat insulated, as seen by one of the largest ever spreads between WTI and Brent. That said, it is clear that Republicans are very worried about how their base is reacting to higher prices at the pump.
