Wataru Endo (DM) VfB Stuttgart

Shit.

Having seen this exclusive footage from Stuttgart airport, maybe he is too old…

Read that in a few places, seems Stuttgart supporters are not happy campers.
His pedigree looks OK and he will likely be a good fit, take pressure off Bajetic to develop too quickly and plays CB.
Definitely worth seeing him.

Some people would prefer it, if the club had paid £100 million for Endo and offered him £200k a week.

Just finished reading this thread. After seeing some of the creative editing of Wikipedia last night I thought it would be sensible to take anything online with a pinch of salt.

I have seen this guy play a couple of times. When I say that, I watched a game on the telly and noticed his name. Usually my appreciation of random Bundesliga games is guided more by the local Getränkemarkt than deep analysis of players’ form.

I’m quite content about this signing. He will essentially fill the role that Fabinho would have filled had he stayed which gives room for our younger players to come through. The reported fee seems a bit high but the Bundesliga starts tomorrow and this is clearly not ideal for Stuttgart.

I think the comments comparing this to Ragnar Klavan are spot on: a solid professional who will do a job when asked. It also gives us breathing space to develop our own talent and to identify up and coming players who actually want to play for us.

I’ve no idea what his English is going to be like. His German should be fine so it’s not going to be any great problem communicating with the boss or a fair few of his teammates.

Just had a look at this guy’s injury record:

https://www.transfermarkt.com/wataru-endo/verletzungen/spieler/146310

There were a couple of hamstrings 4 years ago and a few more serious things when he was younger. Last injury was a concussion last November. Maybe that’s what players need to join us now? A knock on the head.

True. I’ll be honest and say I am one of those feeling underwhelmed by this signing mainly because of our rumored interests in more well-known names where nothing transpired and the transfer/negotiation shambles in recent weeks was a real kick in the nuts.

I hope Endo turns out to be more than just a stop-gap and can fill that DM role we so desperately need from last season.

Let’s face it he has probably only been brought in to cover or the Keita/Arnold/Ox/Milner minutes.

2022/23: 40 games, 3523 mins, injured nine days
2021/22: 34 games, 2992 mins, sick seven days
2020/21: 36 games, 3227 mins, injured seven days

Well well

The way I look at this is…

We have legitimate stars on every line, world class players that any team would rip your hand off to have.

We need someone who works all day and tackles like a maniac. We need this to allow others to flourish. If he can come in and do this for a time, fucking boom. We don’t NEED a star in this role, we would just like one.

Our sides under JK have ALWAYS been way more than the sum of their parts.
