What's happening? (Part 2)

I have lived in Germany for 7 years and I am married to a German. I lived most of my adult life in Scotland but was born and brought up in Liverpool. My father’s family were mostly Scottish and my mothers family were an Irish/Welsh mix. It gets more complicated than that, but it doesn’t have that much effect on cultural identification.

Liverpool, in common with a lot of major port towns, has a large immigrant population. That accounts for why many people in the town don’t identify as being primarily English, even though the city is nominally in England. The “Scouse not English” thing is just a shorthand for saying that we are all mongrels!

And do you lives currently in Scotland?

If you have Irish, Scottish and Welsh ancestors, you are very British instead English.

Most people who live in England have some other UK family.

She must be a great person. She married you.

Yes, great people do tend to attract each other.

Anyway, the next part of the crumpet saga; I managed to persuade her to toast the next lot and she then proceeded to put pepper on them and moaned that they were ‘too crunchy’.

I give up.

No, I live in Germany now.

That sounds like a risky manoeuvre to me.

Another part of my optimisation strategies include leaving them to it. Don’t make a sound, no emotion, not a sound.

Safety first.

It’s the kind of stealthy move I’d expect from a Ninja such as yourself

Hello, good folks. Hope you are doing well.

My daughter has completed her graduation from school. It’s the equivalent of the O Level. She also managed to be in the top 10% of those graduated.

Feeling so happy, relieved, and blessed.

Well done young lady. You are lucky enough to have a top notch bloke for a dad, so your success was guaranteed.

Not stealth, self preservation

I used to play this stupid fucking game once or twice a night with my remarkably ADHD and equally adorable amigo. We got it down to a pattern, completed it in under two minutes (there may have been PEDs involved). Just tried it for the first time after about five years, and I missed nine countries. Surprisingly I remembered all the Oceanic and Central American islands like a melody.

Have a go if you think you’re hard enough.

Couldn’t remember the oceanic islands at all except Fiji,Samoa.

Pretty bad at remembering the names of African countries.

Missed a couple of Asian countries as well. Got most of the Carribean countries fully. Knowledge of Carribean cricket helped a fair bit there.

But did you get Naoero? Until about a week ago it was called Nauru.

didn’t even know a country by that name existed.

It’s an island, or an island group, in the South Pacific.

I think it’s still Nauru on the game. What happened to make it Naoero?

Got only 91. But if I had time I could have got 190.
