What's happening?

Chicory is often used as an additive to coffee in India. In a lot of cases in equal ratios.

Apparently was as a means to decrease costs. But Indians liked the taste of chicory.

I wonder how long it will be before Trump ties to put the blame on Atlantis and decides to drop nukes on the oceans.

Interesting. Popular in the southern US too believe.

So far it’s not a disaster by any means. Today will be a normal coffee morning though.

Stay safe, mate.

I’m sure you aren’t one of those numpties who will take the car out even after being told that it isn’t safe to travel. Some lemon will, though, and we will be hearing about their death tomorrow.

if you ever want it to leave, don’t let the goose see where it came from.

ADD/ADHD - We have been going through this for a few years now and we finally got to the stage where he has had a full assessment with public school and an IEP (indiv edu plan) set up through his teacher (whose father taught at my school when I was a kid, she’s lovely). It’s a long, trying road full of exasperating moments paired with glimmers of progress when his reports come in from the teacher. Key is to know that he has to be led though his work, if left to his own he does not have the capacity to self-start at 10years old and will struggle to see a project through to completion until he had learned to adapt to how he is wired.

Has also taught me how much of the same challenges I have. Then, when you found out it can be hereditary… You really start to look at yourself differently even as I am walking the ragged edge of 50 now.

Coffee? Only good beans and only with 10-18% cream to smooth it out. anything less would be… uncivilized.

Caffeine as a stimulant actually helps calm ADHD brains, hence why so many of us have become sooooo reliant on it. I try to start my day with 1/2L of water before getting into the coffee though.

Hope you’re well, and best of the holiday season to you all!

Interesting.
Not sure that’s true in my case.

Am sure that every person’s body does not react the same. I know that in many cases they actually prescribe stimulants to patients to increase dopamine and norepinephrine.

Adderall and Ritalin are examples of this

Fascinating. I have a lot to learn on this.
Your post has given me some things to look at.

Probably the hardest conversation Mrs and I have had as parents, was discussing the pros and cons of ADHD meds for Jr. He is a bright, gregarious kid who struggles with focus and impulsivity on a daily basis.

He was assessed at end of last school year, on 27 different aspects of his education and personality traits. By his teacher, Class EA, and a school counselor. He ticked all 27 boxes, but all in a mild rating. He is going to be okay, as long as we are able to teach him how to work with this fabulous brain of his.

It’s great that we have this level of care in our education system and I hope we can keep it that way.

For anyone who 1) enjoyed Shogun, and 2) has been paying attention to the East Coast drone hysteria (Wes Moore, the Governor of Maryland post a warning on his official twitter account of what turned out to be the Orion constellation :joy: )

I got into the first 3 episodes of shogun, it looked awesome but ran out of time to watch.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend but the recurring bit of Mariko purposefully mistranslating the Englishman’s words to everyone was fantastic

So I am on the road on the long journey home. The coach just had its 45 min break and I went into the nearby petrol station for a burger. Outside, there is this guy with a pepsi stand handing out free cans of Pepsi Max. I almost had a heart attack. Free soda in Norway? Outrageous ! He gave me 2. An obvious marketing thingy but it doesnt matter, since I will buy coca cola zero instead anyway, as I like it better (I try to avoid sugar variants), so pepsi will gain nothing from being nice to me, bwahahaha ! But there is more…

Of course, I am from the Sunnmøre region and we are reknowned for being economical (i do not fit the stereotype really) and I felt my Sunnmøre blood sing inside my veins as i did what all good Sunnmørings do; get a third free can from the other guy, handing out a can inside the petrol station (sadly singular this time), after first having made sure the first guy outside was busy with his head turned in another direction. So 3 cans.

What can I say shrugs , it made my day. Expensive ? Not very. But free and I had such fun being an above 40 year old male ninja sneaking in to get a 3d free can, thus saving my own drinks which I had brought in my rucksack for another day… Very childish, I know. But still feels good. Other Sunnmøring’s would understand :innocent:

Since I am bored (let’s be honest, the only reason why I am writing this post in the first place is due to being stuck on a bus and needing a break from the novel I am reading), I even snapped a photo of the evidence of my great, great loot !

Yupp, that was the important story of the day, so carry on world.
